White Sox's Trayce Thompson cranks first MLB home run on Tuesday

(8/11/2015) White Sox outfielder Trayce Thompson connected on his first career home run in the 3-0 win over the Angels on Tuesday. Thompson's solo shot came in the fifth inning to give the South Siders their final run of the night. 

The 24-year-old rookie is now 4 for 9 in his brief time in the Major Leagues. Thompson has shown power potential in the minors, as he had 13 home runs in 104 games with Triple-A this season prior to his call-up.


White Sox recall OF Trayce Thompson

(8/3/2015) The White Sox promoted outfielder Trayce Thompson to the majors on Monday, the team announced, and Thompson is in line to make his MLB debut when the Sox take on the Rays.

Thompson is the younger brother of NBA star Klay Thompson and was an All-Star this year at Triple-A Charlotte, where he is hitting .260 with 13 homers, 39 RBIs and 11 steals. 


White Sox trim down roster on Wednesday

(3/18/2015) The White Sox made another round of roster cuts on Wednesday, optioning Matt Davidson, Adrian Nieto, Tyler Saladino, Kevan Smith and Trayce Thompson to Triple-A Charlotte. Raul Fernandez and Michael Ynoa were optioned to Double-A Birmingham, per the team's official website.

Chicago also reassigned Dan Black, Andy LaRoche, J.D. Martin, Jared Mitchell, Tim Anderson and Tyler Danish to minor-league camp.


White Sox Robin Ventura: Trayce Thompson 'can do everything'

(3/17/2015) With the White Sox trailing 5-2 in the eighth inning, Trayce Thompson blasted a two-run homer off of pitcher Rafael Perez on Tuesday. White Sox manager Robin Ventura had high praise for Thompson.

"He's got a ton of talent," Ventura said of Thompson, brother of the Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson. But he said Thompson sometimes puts "a lot of pressure on himself."

"He should just go out and play with confidence that he should have. He can do everything on the field." Ventura said.

Thompson, 24, is batting .375 in spring training this year.


White Sox send eight down

(3/12/2014) Southpaw Charlie Leesman headlines a group of eight White Sox demoted to the minors on Wednesday. He was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte after appearing in eight games and starting one with Chicago in 2013.

Outfielders Trayce Thompson and Jared Mitchell were sent to Double-A Birmingham while catcher Miguel Gonzalez, pitchers Deunte Heath , Omar Poveda and Scott Snodgrass and outfielder Keenyn Walker were reassigned to minor league camp.


White Sox claim Jake Elmore, add two to 40-man roster

(11/20/2013) The White Sox claimed infielder Jake Elmore off waivers and added infielder Carlos Sanchez and outfielder Trayce Thompson to the 40-man roster Wednesday.

Elmore hit .242/.313/.325 with two home runs and six RBI in 120 at-bats with the Astros last season. Sanchez hit .241/.293/.296 with 28 RBI and 16 steals in 432 at-bats with Triple-A Charlotte. Thompson hit .229/.321/.383 with 15 home runs, 73 RBI and 25 stolen baes in 507 at-bats with Double-A Birmingham.

(3/11/2013) The Chicago White Sox made 10 roster moves following Monday's Cactus League game against the Rockies. Among the 10 moves, the Sox optioned Simon Castro and Santos Rodriguez to Triple-A Charlotte. They optioned Nestor Molina to Double-A Birmingham and reassigned Stefan Gartrell, Erik Johnson, Marcus Semien, Scott Snodgress, Trayce Thompson and Keenyn Walker to minor league camp.
