This was Van Slyke's second home run since returning from a stay on the disabled list with a back injury.

"Slykie gets us the two-run homer that gets us the lead back after they got that one in the first," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said, per MLB.com. "I thought that kind of changed the game and brought the momentum back to us and then Brett got rolling."

Van Slyke missed a few games last week due to the injury, but was able to return to the lineup on Saturday. It appears, however, that the 28-year-old is not at 100-percent. He is batting .264 in 87 at bats this season.

Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke returns to action in St. Louis

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/30/2015) A back ailment that has prevented Dodgers outfielder Scott Van Slyke from playing since Monday does not have him out of the lineup Saturday in St. Louis, where he will try to get his first hit in nine days.

It won't be easy - sizzling starter Michael Wacha is on the mound for the Cardinals.

Van Slyke is playing left field and batting seventh. A 4-for-33 slide has lowered his batting average from .373 to .274.

Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke has injured back

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(5/27/2015) Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said outfielder Scott Van Slyke is dealing with an injured back and probably won't be available to play, according to True Blue LA.

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/26/2015) After hitting a big pinch-hit home run on Monday, Alex Guerrero is in the Dodgers' lineup on Tuesday against the Braves. Guerrero is in left field and batting seventh on Tuesday.

Dodgers RF Andre Ethier not in starting lineup on Thursday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/21/2015) With the Dodgers facing a tough left-hander, right fielder Andre Ethier will be held out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Giants. Ethier is in the midst of a hot streak, batting .375 with a home run and four RBI over his last eight games.

But, he's just 3 for 24 lifetime against Giants' starter Madison Bumgarner, so Ethier will take a seat for the series-finale. Scott Van Slyke will handle right field and bat sixth for manager Don Mattingly.

Dodgers' Andre Ethier, Yasmani Grandal not in lineup on Saturday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/16/2015) Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is resting a number of regulars on Saturday against the Rockies. Included in that group is right fielder Andre Ethier and catcher Yasmani Grandal.

Ethier has started 17 of the last 19 games in right field for the Dodgers, and he's been hot at the plate lately. Over his last 10 games, Ethier is hitting .343 with a home run and five RBI. Scott Van Slyke is making the start in right field on Saturday.

Grandal meanwhile has started five straight games behind the plate, so Mattingly will give his legs a rest. A.J. Ellis will catch Zack Greinke against the Rockies.

"A.J. hasn't been playing a whole lot lately," Mattingly said to MLB.com. "I'm trying to get him in there against left-handers as much as I can. I never worry about A.J. as a [good] teammate. I just want to make sure he doesn't feel slighted. He'll be a bigger part of the mix in the next section of games, when we have day after night, and travel."

With Uribe and left fielder Scott Van Slyke in the lineup, Alex Guerrero is coming off the bench Thursday.

Dodgers' Justin Turner, Alex Guerrero starting Tuesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5/5/2015) Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner and left fielder Alex Guerrero are in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Turner is batting fifth while drawing his first start in three games. Juan Uribe will head to the bench with Turner in the lineup.

Guerrero is batting eight and manning left field for the third time since Carl Crawford was placed on the disabled list. His presence in the lineup sends Scott Van Slyke to the bench.

The Dodgers are heavy road favorites (-165) Tuesday.

Scott Van Slyke gets start over Alex Guerrero for Dodgers

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/4/2015) The Dodgers continued alternating left fielders.

Since Carl Crawford went on the disabled list, Alex Guerrero has gotten three starts in left field and Scott Van Slyke, two. The two players have alternated days starting.

Guerrero got the call on Sunday, so Van Slyke is listed as the Dodgers' left fielder in Monday's lineup. He'll hit fifth in the lineup.

Scott Van Slyke doubles twice, homers, three RBI in Dodgers' victory

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(4/19/2015) Dodgers left fielder Scott Van Slyke went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer, two doubles and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Rockies.

The homer was Van Slyke's first of the season.

"Van Slyke's a tough out. And if you give him an extra chance, more times than not it ends up hurting you," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.

Dodgers' Puig, Crawford, Grandal, Uribe out of lineup Sunday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/19/2015) Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig, left fielder Carl Crawford, catcher Yasmani Grandal and third baseman Juan Uribe are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rockies.

Puig was able to return from a tight hamstring Saturday and go 2 for 3 with a walk, but manager Don Mattingly said that the outfielder had a noticeable limp while playing nine innings. Crawford is out of the lineup for the second straight day due to illness. Uribe and Grandal are sitting for the first time in four games.

With several starters sidelined, Justin Turner will bat second and play third base, Andre Ethier will bat fifth and start in right field, Scott Van Slyke will start in left field and bat sixth and A.J. Ellis will start behind the plate and bat eighth against Rockies right-hander Eddie Butler.

Despite the multiple absences, the Dodgers are heavy favorites (-165) Sunday.

Dodgers' Juan Uribe, Justin Turner remain out of lineup Monday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/13/2015) Dodgers infielders Juan Uribe (hamstring) and Justin Turner (finger) are not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.

With both players still dealing with injury, Alex Guerrero, who went 3 for 5 with one home run and four RBI Sunday, will get another start at third base and bat sixth against Mariners lefty James Paxton.

The Dodgers are also keeping shortstop Jimmy Rollins, catcher Yasmani Grandal and left fielder Carl Crawford out of the starting lineup Monday. Darwin Barney will play shortstop and bat leadoff, Scott Van Slyke will man left field and bat fifth and A.J. Ellis will be behind the plate and bat eighth.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/7/2015) Dodgers manager Don Mattingly stopped short Monday of calling rookie Joc Pederson the team's starting center fielder, but he added, "You're going to see Joc a lot in center field."

"We really like the way Joc goes about his business," Mattingly said, per MLB.com.

Mattingly added Scott Van Slyke and Andre Ethier are likely going to start in center field the days Pederson is off, per the Los Angeles Times

Mattingly said he spoke with Ethier over the weekend about his reserve role. Ethier was hoping to be a starter -- either with the Dodgers or another team.

"Any step can change his whole situation," Mattingly said. "If one guy takes a bad step, turns an ankle, Andre's playing every day."

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(8/29/2014) Dodgers outfielder Scott Van Slyke was not in the team's starting lineup Friday against the Padres.
