Rockies demote five

(3/27/2014) The Rockies have optioned catcher Mike McKenry and infielders Josh Rutledge and Ryan Wheeler to the minors and reassigned outfelders Jason Pridie and Tim Wheeler .

Rutledge has played both middle infield positions with the Rockies. He racked up 562 at-bats in the last two seasons combined.

(8/19/2013) The Rockies recalled infielder Ryan Wheeler on Monday with Yorvit Torrealba being placed on the 7-day disabled list for concussions, the Denver Post reports. Wheeler was previously up with the Rockies back in April and early May. 

Wheeler, who went 1 for 9 (.111) during his first stint with Colorado this season, is batting .308 over 415 at-bats with 10 homers and 81 RBI for Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Wheeler appeared in just six games (one start) with Colorado and produced a .111 batting average.

(4/25/2013) The Rockies officially have promoted outfielder Ryan Wheeler from Triple-A Colorado Springs prior to Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.


Wheeler was hitting .348 (16 for 46) with four doubles, two home runs, 16 RBI and 10 runs in 15 games at Triple-A. He also hit safely in his last six games before being promoted to take Todd Helton's place on the roster.

Wheeler hit .348 with six extra-base hits in 15 games at Triple-A. The team will make the decision official if they decide to place Todd Helton on the disabled list. Helton has missed the last five games with a forearm injury.
