Cubs prospect Kyle Schwarber among cuts Thursday

(3/26/2015) The Cubs announced Thursday they cut 12 players from major-league camp, including top catcher prospect Kyle Schwarber,who was reassigned to minor-league camp.

The other players reassigned to minor-league camp were pitchers Daniel Bard, Anthony Carter, Jorge De Leon, Gonzalez Germen and Francisley Bueno, infielder Chris Valaika, outfielders Albert Almora, Mike Baxter and Adron Chambers.

Pitcher Blake Parker and pitcher Joseph Ortiz were optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Astros, Blue Jays complete minor deal

(6/12/2014) The Astros have announced a trade that sent outfielder Adron Chambers to the Blue Jays for left-hander Alejandro Solarte and infielder Will Dupont.

The 27-year-old Chambers has played parts of three seasons with Houston, but has struggled at the plate. He owns a .216 average at the major level and has fanned an alarming 30 times in 88 at-bats.

Solarte and Dupont both played in the Gulf Coast League in 2013.

(3/5/2014) Astros outfielder Adron Chambers is close to his spring debut, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Chambers has been limited by a hamstring injury during camp. He was able to get through base running and fielding drills Wednesday morning. As long as he doesn't experience any setbacks, Chambers should play in a spring game soon.

(1/14/2014) The Astros announced Tuesday that outfielder Adron Chambers and infielder Gregorio Petit have been signed to minor-league deals with invitations to spring training.

Chambers went 4 for 26 with the Cardinals last season while also hitting .252/.338/.387 with eight home runs, 43 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 333 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis. Petit hit .292/.344/.380 with four home runs, 61 RBI and five stolen bases in 503 at-bats with Triple-A Tuscon.
