Blue Jays sign Mike McDade to minor-league deal

(3/14/2014) The Blue Jays have signed first baseman Mike McDade to a minor-league deal, MLB.com reports.

McDade was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the sixth round in 2007 but spent 2013 in the White Sox and Indians organizations. He went 2 for 5 with two walks with the White Sox this spring before joining back up with his former organiztion.

(3/5/2014) The White Sox reassigned seven players to minor-league camp Wednesday, including infielder Mike McDade, outfielder Denis Phipps, catcher Kevan Smith and pitchers Chris Bassitt, Parker Frazier, Brian Omogrosso and Mauricio Robles.

The White Sox have 55 players remaining in major-league camp after the moves.


White Sox hand out 21 invites to spring training

(1/21/2014) The White Sox announced Tuesday they handed out 21 non-roster invites to spring training. The list was headlined by prospects Micah Johnson and Chris Beck, who are considered among the White Sox's top 10 prospects by Baseball America.

The 11 pitchers invited to spring training were Beck, Dylan Axelrod, Chris Bassitt, Parker Frazier, Brian Omogrosso, Omar Poveda, David Purcey, Zach Putnam, Mauricio Robles and Scott Snodgress.

The remaining spring invites included three catchers -- Hector Gimenez, Miguel Gonzalez, Kevan Smith -- four infielders -- Johnson, Alex Liddi, Mike McDade, Andy Wilkins -- and three outfielders -- Denis Phipps, Blake Tekotte, Keenyn Walker.

(12/6/2013) The White Sox sent first baseman Mike McDade outright to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. McDade owned a .250/.313/.371 slash line with 10 home runs and 53 RBI over 428 at-bats in the minors last season.

(5/7/2013) The White Sox have claimed Indians first baseman Mike McDade on waivers.

McDade was designated for assignment by the Indians Thursday. McDade is hitting .230/.313/.284 in 74 at-bats in Triple-A. The 24-year-old will likely report to Chicago's Triple-A team in Charlotte.

McDade was batting just .230 with no home runs and seven RBI in 74 at-bats for Triple-A Columbus.
