Casey McGehee replaces Justin Bour at first for Marlins

(8/1/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game. 

Bour has started 51 games this season. He'll be replaced by Casey McGehee, who has started just four times this year but three times in the last five games.

Bour doubled twice, giving him nine on the year and three in the last two games.

Bour is 5 for 9 with five RBI in the last two games before the All Star Break.

(7/11/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour continued his hot hitting on Saturday, as he went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in the 14-3 rout of the Reds. 

Bour is batting .265 with three homers and 10 RBI in 10 games this month.

(7/3/2015) The home run tear of Marlins first baseman Justin Bour continued Friday against the host Cubs. He blasted one in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give his team a victory.

Bour has gone yard once in each of the last four games to give him 10 on the season. Five of his last seven hits have gone the distance.

"To homer in any park is cool," said Bour, per MLB.com. "But it is very nice that it came at an opportunity to help us win the game."

He was the only player in the game, however, to total two hits.

(7/2/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour hit a home run for the third-straight game during Thursday's 5-4 win over the Giants.

The three-run shot came off Matt Cain in the fifth inning. It was his only hit in three at-bats. He also walked once.

Prior to Thursday's win, Bour had been hitting .207 with three home runs and six RBI in his last nine games.

"That was a situation where the guys in front of me did a great job of getting on base," Bour said, per MLB.com. "I'm not really looking to hit a home run in that situation. I'm looking to get the next guy up and fortunately it went out for me."


Marlins 1B Justin Bour hits walk-off home run

(7/1/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour hit a three-run home run to lift his team past the Giants on Wednesday.

Bour hit the walk-off blast with two runners on base and no outs in the ninth inning off Giants relief pitcher Santiago Casilla. He finished the game 2 for 4 with three RBI.

The multi-hit performance was much needed for Bour, who was hitting merely .182 with eight hits and 12 strikeouts over his last 15 games.

(6/30/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour hit his seventh home run of the season in Tuesday night's 5-3 win over the Giants. 

Bour's homer was of the solo variety and he ended the game 1 for 4 from the plate. Bour had been in mired in a bit of a slump as he'd hit .194 in his previous 10 games. Bour now has a slash line of .254/.331/.454.

(6/27/2015) The Marlins will start Jeff Baker at first base in Saturday's game, in place of Justin Bour.

Bour has started 30 games at first this season, but Baker has gotten the call three times in the last four games. 

Baker will be starting his twelfth game at first base this year. He'll bat fifth in the lineup.

(6/21/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour smacked his sixth home run of the season during Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Reds. Bour hit the solo shot off Michael Lorenzen in the second inning.

Bour went 2 for 3 with one RBi during the game. Prior to his two-hit game Sunday, Bour had been hitting .130 with two RBI in his last eight games.

That's only Bour's fifth home run of the season, though he finished the game 2 for 4. Through almost two months of the season, Bour now holds a slash line of .369/.414/.646. He's appeared in 29 games.

(5/31/2015) After taking Saturday off, first baseman Justin Bour is back in the lineup against the Mets. Bour, batting fourth, is hitting .361 in 28 games this season. 

Ichiro Suzuki is getting the start in center field for Marcell Ozuna, who appears to be getting the day off. Suzuki will bat fifth. 

Catcher Jhonatan Solano is also in the lineup.

Bour has just five at-bats against southpaws this seaon with one hit. He has otherwise been mashing. He owns a slash line of .361/.409/.607 in 61 at-bats and has homered in his last two games.

(5/29/2015) First baseman Justin Bour provided the offense the Marlins would need to defeat the Mets on Friday. In the top of the fourth inning, Bour launched a three-run home run to put the Marlins on top 4-0 in a game they would win 4-3. 

The home run, his fourth of the season, was Bour's only hit of the game. Now the primary option at first base for the Marlins, Bour has 10 hits in 31 at-bats over his last 10 games.

Morse's struggles this season have been well-documented, and they will earn him another night on the bench for the Marlins.

(5/18/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour will bat fourth in the lineup on Monday against the Diamondbacks, the first time he has done so this year, the team announced.

Bour, who will make just his fifth start of the year, will replace Michael Morse at first. Marcell Ozuna, the normal cleanup hitter, will slide down to fifth.

"Putting Justin there, putting him in the four hole," manager Dan Jennings said to Fox Sports Florida. "Trying to create some left, right leverage in the lineup. Let's see what happens. As I told these guys. There are 13 position players that are going to be utilized. We'll get guys days off, we'll use the bench, we'll rest our regulars. We all need to be ready to contribute when the bell rings.

J.T. Realmuto also returns to the lineup on Monday after getting the day off Sunday.

The Marlins are currently the favorites (-122) against Arizona.


Michael Morse still not starting for Marlins on Wednesday

(5/6/2015) Struggling first baseman Michael Morse was held out of the Marlins lineup for the second straight game on Wednesday. Morse hasn't recorded a hit since April 28, and will receive his fourth day off in the last five games.

Justin Bour, who has seven hits in 14 at-bats since being recalled on April 25, was the starting first baseman for the third straight day for manager Mike Redmond.

(5/5/2015) If you figure Marlins first baseman Michael Morse is upset with Mike Redmond for playing Justin Bour ahead of him lately, figure again. He completely understands.

Morse, after all, is batting just .183 with two home runs and eight RBI in 23 games. He has fanned 28 times, including in three of four at-bats Sunday. So never mind the two-year, $16 million deal he signed in the offseason.

"I'm always just about winning and I'm happy for anybody that gets a chance to play - especially [Justin] Bour," Morse told the Miami Herald. "He's swinging the bat awesome. ... Even if I was in there (Tuesday) I'd probably run into the manager's office and tell them, 'Better play that guy.'"

Bour has seven hits in 12 at-bats and homered Monday.

(5/4/2015) Marlins first baseman Justin Bour went 1 for 3 at the plate in Miami's 6-4 loss to the Nationals on Monday. Bour did his damage in the seventh inning when he ripped a Jordan Zimmermann pitch over the left field wall for a solo shot, his first of the season.

Bour is now hitting .583 on the year in 12 at-bats.

Morse will get his second day off in the last three after struggling at the plate early on in the year. Morse is hitting just .193 with two home runs and eight RBI in 88 at-bats. Bour is 6 for 9 with a double so far this season.

The Marlins are currently the underdogs (+170) against Washington Monday.

Justin Bour, just called up from Triple-A on Friday, gets the start at first base, batting fifth. 

The Marlins are +140 money line underdogs at home against Washington. 


Marlins place Christian Yelich on DL, call up Justin Bour

(4/24/2015) The Marlins placed outfielder Christian Yelich on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain. Yelich has missed the last three games, and the transaction is retroactive to April 20. 

Yelich is hitting .200 with no home runs and four RBI this season. 

To replace Yelich on the roster, the Marlins called up first baseman Justin Bour from Triple-A New Orleans. Bour was hitting .275 for New Orleans this season with one home run and five RBI. 

Bour played in 39 games for the Marlins last season, hitting .284 with a homer and 11 RBI.

Bour singled in the second, doubled in two runs in the seventh and singled again in the ninth. He finished 3 for 4 with a walk, four runs scored and two RBI in a 15-7 victory. He is hitting .294/.368/.382 with one home run and 11 RBI over 68 at-bats.
