(6/15/2014) Rockies reliever Matt Belisle (2-2) struck out one in a perfect inning of work for the win Sunday afternoon against the Giants in San Francisco. Belisle owns a 4.82 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 28 innings of work this season.

Matt Belisle's improvement due to mechanical change

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5/17/2014) Rockies reliever Matt Belisle has seen an increase in his velocity and effectiveness over the last month, and MLB.com reports a change in mechanics can take much of the credit.

"We've been getting him on his back leg and creating a load," pitching coach Jim Wright said. "He was just leaving the rubber too soon. Then you get more arm, you lose your angle and your confidence and your focus. It was just getting him back on his back leg and getting him a chance to get everything on time again."

Belisle had a 6.55 ERA through 12 appearances before making the change. Since, he has tossed five scoreless outings, while seeing the velocity on his fastball increase up to five miles per hour.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/20/2014) Rockies reliever Matt Belisle endured a rough eighth inning and was hit with his second loss of the season in a 10-9 defeat to the Phillies.

Belisle allowed a run-scoring single to Jimmy Rollins and allowed another run to score on a Chase Utley fielder's choice. He was charged with two runs on three hits and no walks in one inning of work. He owns a 6.00 ERA over nine innings pitched.

Mark Belisle 'singled out' in loss to Marlins

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/3/2014) Rockies reliever Mark Belisle is no closer, but he still earned a blown save Thursday against Miami with a brutal performance.

The veteran right-hander entered with his team clinging to a 5-4 lead and exited responsible for an 8-5 deficit that proved to be the final score.

Belisle started out fine by retiring two of the first three batters he faced. He then surrendered three of the four singles he gave up, as well as a walk, to throw the game away and raise his earned run average to 18.00.

Leading the team with 24 holds, Belisle pitched in 72 games this season and compiled a 4.32 ERA.

Struggling Matt Belisle insists he's healthy

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(6/29/2013) Rockies reliever Matt Belisle has been struggling, but he adamantly insists he's not injured, the Denver Post reports. Belisle served up a game-winning, two-run home run in the eighth inning Thursday to Marlon Byrd of the Mets.

His ERA has soared to 9.26 over 11 June appearances with that outing. He has a 16.20 ERA over his last 6 2/3 innings of work. What is more, the 33-year-old has seen a dip in velocity.
