(4/26/2013) Astros pitching prospect Rudy Owens is expected to be sidelined 4-5 months due to a stress fracture in his left foot, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday. Owen, who is scheduled to undergo surgery on his foot next Monday in Houston, was 0-3 with a 3.71 ERA in 17 innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Owens to start year at Triple-A

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/10/2013) The Astros endured their first cuts of the spring Sunday and a few of their top prospects were among the names reassigned to minor-league camp. Players reassigned Sunday were Delino DeShields Jr., Jake Goebbert, Marc Krauss, George Springer, Chris Wallace, Rudy Owens and Sam Demel. Owens is one player on the Astros' radar for a potential promotion in 2013. “Owens came over in a trade and he’s a rotation guy that will start the season in Triple-A, and we have to give him an opportunity to get build up," manager Bo Porter said, per MLB.com.
