Eury Perez joins the Yankees

(9/22/2014) The Yankees claimed outfielder Eury Perez off waivers from the Nationals Monday. Perez hit .311 with one home run and 20 steals in 212 at-bats for Triple-A Syracuse this year. He has 13 career at-bats in the majors, the last eight coming in 2013.

Perez is dealing with a left toe fracture. Perez hit .228 in 92 at-bats at Triple-A Syracuse prior to the injury.

(3/17/2014) The Nationals made a some roster moves Monday. They optioned outfielder Eury Perez and outfielder Steven Souza to Triple-A Syracuse, while optioning pitcher Sammy Solis to Double-A Harrisburg.

Also, the Nationals reassigned infielder Mike Fontenot, outfielder Brian Goodwin and catcher Koyie Hill to minor-league camp.

Perez appeared in 13 games for the Nationals in 2012, mostly as a defensive replacement in the month of September.

(5/10/2013) Nationals manager Davey Johnson indicated to reporters after Friday's game that minor-league outfielder Eury Perez will join the Nationals Saturday and will likely replace Jayson Werth on the 25-man roster. Werth is expected to be placed on the disabled list Saturday.

Perez has hit .346/.352/.439 with one home run and seven stolen bases in 108 plate appearances for Triple-A Syracuse this season.
