Charlie Furbush serves up go-ahead HR in extras

(7/26/2014) Mariners reliever Charlie Furbush (1-5) took the loss without recording an out Friday night against the Orioles in extras. Furbush allowed a go-ahead home run to Chris Davis in the 10th inning before he was pulled. It was the only batter he faced in the game. He owns a 3.90 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over 30 innings of relief.

(7/20/2014) Mariners pitcher Charlie Furbush earned his first career save Saturday, recording the final three outs of his team's 3-2, 12-inning win over the Angels.

With regular closer Fernando Rodney used earlier in the game, the Mariners turned to Furbush in the 12th inning after another reliever surrendered a leadoff home run in the inning. He rattled off three straight outs to finish off the win. Furbush owns a 3.81 ERA and 27:5 K:BB ratio in 28 1/3 innings.


Charlie Furbush faces one batter Saturday, takes loss

(4/27/2014) Mariners pitcher Charlie Furbush hit the only batter he faced Saturday, which was enough to earn him a loss as his team fell to the Rangers, 6-3.

Furbush (0-2) began the eighth inning by plunking Prince Fielder, and he was promptly removed thereafter with the game tied 3-3. Fielder would come around to score the go-ahead run, and the Mariners weren't able to come back and tie the game up. Furbush owns a 6.43 ERA and 5:3 K:BB ratio in seven innings.

(4/1/2014) Mariners pitcher Charlie Furbush said Tuesday that he was good to go after exiting Monday's game due to a line drive hitting him in the calf, MLB.com reports.

"I'm fine," Furbush said. "But it squared me up pretty good."

Furbush recorded one out before taking the liner off his calf. He in his third season as a member of the Mariners bullpen.

Furbursh recorded one out before getting struck by a Mike Trout liner in the seventh inning. The team will likely have an update on his status after the game.

It was Furbush's first appearance since March 3. Furbush has been limited by biceps soreness during camp. He posted a 3.74 ERA in 65 innings last year.

(12/17/2013) The Mariners and reliever Charlie Furbush avoided arbitration on Tuesday, agreeing to a one-year, $750,000 deal, according to Yahoo! Sports. Furbush went 2-6 and posted a 3.74 ERA over 65 innings of work last season.

Mariners could use up to four pitchers to close

(8/2/2013) The Mariners could mix and match as many as four relievers to close games, now that Tom Wilhelmsen has been removed from the closer's role.

"As of right now, maybe like in the past, we'll piece it together and match up and go from there," acting manager Robby Thompson told MLB.com Friday. "Those games like that and even closer games where we've got the lead, we've got to find a way to win the ballgame."

Thompson said Oliver Perez, Charlie Furbush, Yoervis Medina and Danny Farquhar could all see closing chances while the team tries to sort out the back of the bullpen.

(4/18/2013) Tigers reliever Charlie Furbush received the loss in Wednesday's 14-inning game with the Mariners.

Furbush came into the game in the top of the 13 inning, and struck out three batters. Furbush remained in the game in the 14, but immediately gave up a hit and walked a batter. Blake Beavan was brought in to try and limit to damage, but allowed one of Furbush's runs to score.
