Mendez was dealing with a stress fracture in his right (throwing) elbow prior to spring training, which limited him in the early part of camp. He did not make a Cactus League appearance.

General manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday Mendez's injury was discovered in October and he is currently rehabbing in Arizona. Mendez will be limited when spring training opens.
