Alex Wimmers not throwing breaking balls yet

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2/14/2014) Twins pitcher Alex Wimmers has yet to throw any breaking balls yet, according to the Star Tribune.

Wimmers had a surgery to repair a nerve in his elbow in October, and is still recovering from the injury. Wimmers was coming off Tommy John surgery prior to this issue, so it's been a long road back for the pitcher. He expects to be ready by the end of minor-league camp.

(10/25/2013) Twins pitching prospect Alex Wimmers underwent a surgical procedure to decompress the radial nerve in his throwing elbow, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press Friday.

Wimmers came back from Tommy John surgery last season and made only six starts for Double-A New Britain. He went 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA over 15 innings pitched. The Twins have not give a timetable for his return.

(6/7/2013) Twins pitching prospect Alex Wimmers is nearing a return, according to the Star Tribune.

Wimmers is recovering from Tommy John surgery, and has been throwing bullpen sessions. Wimmers could make his debut next month, and would likely do it in the low levels of the minors. Wimmes was a first round pick in 2010, but his career has been limited by injuries.
