Mets line up candidates to start Friday

(8/19/2013) As of Monday morning, the Mets still haven't chosen a starter for Friday's game against the Tigers. Manager Terry Collins said it likely won't be Matt Harvey, who will receive extra rest and pitch Saturday.

Collins did list Carlos Torres and the entire Triple-A rotation sans prospect Rafael Montero as candidates to start Friday. Besides Torres, the Mets are considering Jacob deGrom, Giancarlo Alvarado, Matt Fox and Chris Schwinden, according to The Star-Ledger.


Matt Fox signs minor-league deal with Mets

(5/14/2013) The Mets signed pitcher Matt Fox to a minor-league deal Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Fox, a former first-round draft pick, went 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in four starts and one relief appearance in the Atlantic League. He is expected to join the rotation at Triple-A Las Vegas.
