Alberto Cabrera having 'great year'

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/18/2013) Cubs pitcher Alberto Cabrera made his MLB debut in 2012 as a reliever, but he was sent back to the minors in 2013 to stretch out as a starter and the results have been positive. Cabrera is 9-3 with a 3.20 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 18 starts.

The right-hander has managed 107 strikeouts in 112 2/3 innings.

"This has been a great year for (him)," Cubs scouting director Jason McLeod said. "It's funny, not too many people talk about him. He had that taste up here in the big leagues, pitched pretty well, but we really wanted him to start this year, try to develop his command and offspeed stuff."
