(3/26/2013) The Yankees claimed pitcher Dan Otero off waivers from the San Francisco Giants Tuesday. The team moved Cesar Cabral to the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury. Cabral is coming back from Tommy John surgery.

The 28-year-old Otero has allowed seven earned runs over seven innings with the Giants this spring. He appeared in 12 games with San Francisco last year and had a 5.84 ERA.

Cabral still nursing elbow issue

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(2/15/2013) Yankees relief pitcher Cesar Cabral is not expected to pitch in games until at least May as he continues to work back from a lingering elbow injury, The Star-Ledger reports. Cabral missed all of last season after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left elbow. "It won't be this spring, but he's progressing well," manager Joe Girardi said. "He's a guy that we like the upside in him, we like his arm, but he won't quite be ready."
