Pirates get closer to finalizing opening day roster

(3/25/2014) The Pirates made several roster moves Tuesday, including optioning Jaff Decker and Jared Hughes to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Pirates also reassigned Robert Andino, Chris Dickerson, Jay Jackson, Michael MartinezOmir Santos, Daniel Schlereth, Zack Thornton and Adam Wilk to minor-league camp.

(12/18/2013) The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Pirates signed the following players to minor league contracts: first baseman Travis Ishikawa, starting pitcher Kyle McPherson and relievers Daniel SchlerethAdam Wilk, Brandon Mann and Elvin Ramirez.

Ishikawa, McPherson, Schlereth and Wilk received invites to spring training.


Adam Wilk to attempt return to majors in 2014

(12/11/2013) Free-agent pitcher Adam Wilk will attempt to return to the majors after spending last season in Korea, FOX Sports reports.

Wilk went 7-11 with a 2.77 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 128:28 K:BB ratio in 149 2/3 innings over 24 starts with Triple-A Toledo in 2012 before heading to Korea.

(12/19/2012) The Tigers announced Wednesday that they sold the contract of starting pitcher Adam Wilk to a team in the Korean Baseball League. Wilk made three starts for the Tigers in 2012, and he spent the rest of the season at Triple-A Toledo, where he went 7-11 with a 2.77 ERA.
