Cardinals recall pitchers Lyons, Socolovich and Greenwood

(9/2/2015) The Cardinals have recalled a trio of pitchers from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday. Left-hander Tyler Lyons was summoned and he will start Wednesday's game against the Nationals, taking the place of Michael Wacha.

Lyons has made nine appearances--six starts--for the Cardinals this season. He is 2-1 with a 3.96 ERA. His last big-league start came back on July 7.

Along with Lyons, the Cardinals added right-handed relievers Miguel Socolovich and Nick Greenwood to the active roster, according to MLB.com.


Cardinals demote P Miguel Socolovich, DFA P Marcus Hatley

(7/31/2015) The Cardinals have demoted reliever Miguel Socolovich to Triple-A Memphis and designated for assignment fellow pitcher Marcus Hatley to create a roster spot for just-acquired Jonathan Broxton, per the Belleville News-Democrat.

Socolovich has performed quite well this season to the tune of a 1.54 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings. He has allowed one earned run in his last 11 2/3 innings pitched.

Hatley hurled 1 1/3 shutout innings in two appearances during his brief stint with St. Louis in early July.


Cardinals recall RP Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A

(6/9/2015) The Cardinals have recalled right-hander Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A Memphis, the team announced on Tuesday. Socolovich had a brief seven-game stint with the Cardinals earlier this season, posting a 1.17 ERA in 7 2/3 innings of relief.

Socolovich is taking the roster spot of Matt Holliday, who was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday.


Cardinals option RP Miguel Socolovich to Triple-A on Thursday

(5/28/2015) The Cardinals optioned pitcher Miguel Socolovich to Triple-A Memphis, the team announced on Thursday. The right-hander was originally called up at the beginning of May, and pitched well for the Cardinals. 

Socolovich made seven appearances, earning a victory in the firs two. Overall, he pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing just one earned run and five hits. He recorded eight strikeouts and just one walk. He'll likely get another shot in the big leagues before too long. 

The team has not announced a corresponding move to replace him on the 25-man roster.

St. Louis purchased the contract of right-hander Miguel Socolovic from Triple-A Memphis and optioned left-hander Tim Cooney to Memphis. Outfielder Tommy Pham was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
