Cardinals recall RP Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A

(6/9/2015) The Cardinals have recalled right-hander Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A Memphis, the team announced on Tuesday. Socolovich had a brief seven-game stint with the Cardinals earlier this season, posting a 1.17 ERA in 7 2/3 innings of relief.

Socolovich is taking the roster spot of Matt Holliday, who was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday.


Cardinals option RP Miguel Socolovich to Triple-A on Thursday

(5/28/2015) The Cardinals optioned pitcher Miguel Socolovich to Triple-A Memphis, the team announced on Thursday. The right-hander was originally called up at the beginning of May, and pitched well for the Cardinals. 

Socolovich made seven appearances, earning a victory in the firs two. Overall, he pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing just one earned run and five hits. He recorded eight strikeouts and just one walk. He'll likely get another shot in the big leagues before too long. 

The team has not announced a corresponding move to replace him on the 25-man roster.

(5/1/2015) The Cardinals announced several roster moves prior to Friday's game against the Pirates, per the team's official website. St. Louis purchased the contract of right-hander Miguel Socolovic from Triple-A Memphis and optioned left-hander Tim Cooney to Memphis. Outfielder Tommy Pham was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
