Rockies LF Ben Paulsen slams two homers in four-hit game

(7/26/2015) Rockies left fielder Ben Paulsen enjoyed what was probably his best game of the season on Sunday against the Reds.

Paulsen went 4 for 5 with two home runs, a triple and four RBI. Paulsen now has seven home rund and 26 RBI on the season.

(7/21/2015) Rockies first baseman Ben Paulsen hit a single to center field to send the Rockies to a 8-7 win over the Rangers on Monday.

Paulsen hit the single off Tanner Scheppers in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Drew Stubbs. He finished the game 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Prior to Monday’s game, Paulsen was hitting .250 with one double and two RBI in his last 11 games.

Paulsen will be replaced at first base by Wilin Rosario, who will hit in the cleanup spot.

Over his last nine games, Paulsen is hitting .261 with six hits, a double and two RBI.

Paulsen broke an 0-for-10 streak at the plate over his previous three games with the multi-hit performance.

On the season, Paulsen is hitting .294 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 109 at-bats.

(6/20/2015) Rockies first baseman Ben Paulsen had another nice night at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBI in the 9-5 loss to the Brewers on Friday. The slugger finished a home run shy of the cycle, but it wasn't enough to avoid defeat.

Paulsen has cooled off considerably after his blazing-hot start to the season. Over his last 10 games, he's batting .222 with 13 strikeouts in 27 at-bats.

Paulsen has been used in a pinch-hitting role the last two games and in four of his last six appearances. He has made the most of his limited time, however, hitting .328 with five homers and 11 RBIs in just 24 games this season.

(6/10/2015) Rockies left fielder Ben Paulsen took advantage of his only at-bat during his team's 4-2 loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Paulsen entered the game in a pinch-hit situation during the seventh inning with his team down 3-0 and slammed to center field a two-run home run. 

Paulsen is hitting .333 with five home runs and 11 RBI in 66 at-bats this season.

(6/9/2015) Rockies first baseman Ben Paulsen went 3 for 5 in Monday night's 11-3 blowout win over the Cardinals. 

One of Paulsen's hits went for a triple, his first of the season. He also contributed a single and a double in the game. He didn't record any RBI but did score three runs of his own. This performance snapped a two-game hitless streak. 

Paulsen is now batting .339/.388/.645.

(6/8/2015) After only receiving two at-bats in the last two games, Rockies first baseman Ben Paulsen was in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals, reports MLB.com.

He will bat sixth and go against John Lackey, who he has never faced in his career. Paulsen is hitting .235 with one home run and one RBI in his last six games.

The Rockies are the underdogs (+135) Monday against the Cardinals.

Paulsen went deep in the seventh inning, for his fourth homer of the year, driving in his ninth run. He went 2 for 4, scoring twice and adding his fourth double of the season.

(6/2/2015) Rockies first baseman/outfielder Ben Paulsen is in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers. Paulsen was forced to exit Sunday's game and did not start on Monday due to a migrane.

But Paulsen was able to enter Monday's game as a late-inning defensive replacement and appears good to go for Tuesday's game one. He is starting at first base and batting fifth.

Descalso is hitting eighth in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. 

Catcher Nick Hundley is back in the lineup after sitting Saturday and will hit seventh. Ben Paulsen is getting the start in left field and is hitting sixth. 


Rockies' Ben Paulsen slugs a home run for second straight game

(5/30/2015) Rockies first baseman/outfielder Ben Paulsen homered for the second straight game in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Phillies. Paulsen, who had a pinch-hit home run on Friday, clubbed a key solo shot in the top of the seventh to give the Rockies some insurance in the late innings. 

The 27-year-old slugger now has three home runs after making his season-debut on May 19, and still sports a very healthy .359 batting average. Paulsen says he received some good tips from his skipper in Triple-A, prior to his recent promotion.

"The last week I was down there in Triple-A, [Albuquerque manager Glenallen Hill] challenged me as a hitter to be on balance," Paulsen said, per MLB.com. "Even if you're fooled, be on your legs. He challenged me, saying, 'I don't care if you're 0 for your next 15 at-bats, I want you to really be on balance.'"

(5/29/2015) Rockies slugger Ben Paulsen came off the bench Friday and launched his second home run of the season. The two-run shot in the top of the ninth inning put Colorado up 4-0, as they went on to beat the Phillies 4-1. 

Paulsen did not start the game, but he has been quite productive at the plate since being called up on May 19. In the 11 games since being added to the roster, Paulsen is hitting .371 with the two home runs and seven RBI. He's been eating into the playing time of Wilin Rosario at first base with his solid hitting.

(5/26/2015) Rockies first baseman Wilin Rosario is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds. This marks the third time in the last four games that Rosario has sat out, as he's been sharing time at first base with Ben Paulsen

Rosario continues to hit well this season, however, as he has nine hits in his last 28 at-bats. Paulsen will draw the start at first base and bat sixth on Tuesday.

Brandon Barnes will fill in for Gonzalez and bat sixth. 

Infielder DJ LeMahieu is also getting the day off. Daniel Descalso will play second base instead. Ben Paulsen is filling in for Wilin Rosario, who also has the day off.

(5/23/2015) Five days after being recalled from Triple-A, Rockies outfielder Ben Paulsen launched his first home run of the year in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants. His solo shot came in the bottom of the second to give his team an early 1-0 lead, though that lead would quickly fade, as the Rockies fell 10-8.

Paulsen, who also singled and scored two runs in Saturday's game 1, has hit safely in all five games since his call-up and has three extra base-hits. As long as Paulsen continues to hit, he will likely continue to see fairly regular playing time with several members of the Rockies' outfield either struggling or injured.

(5/20/2015) Rockies outfielder Ben Paulsen is in the starting lineup for the first time this season on Wednesday against the Phillies, replacing Rafael Ynoa, the team announced.

Ynoa and Paulsen will likely split time while Corey Dickerson is on the 15-day DL with a foot injury. Ynoa is hitting .243 with three doubles in 37 at-bats this season.

Paulsen hit .256 with 15 RBI in 125 at-bats for Triple-A Albuquerque this season.

(5/19/2015) With left fielder Corey Dickerson (plantar fasciitis) placed on the 15-day disable list Tuesday, the Rockies improved their versatility with the Triple-A call up of outfielder/first baseman Ben Paulsen, according to the Denver Post.

"Versatility and thump from the left side," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.

With Justin Morneau on the DL, Paulsen will serve as a backup to Wilin Rosario at first base and also can play both left and right field.

"It's tough to play short-handed," manager Walt Weiss said. "[Dickerson can] pinch-hit, but that's the extent of it. [His injury had] just had gotten worse."

In 36 games for Triple-A Albuquerque, Paulson was batting .256 with three homers, eight doubles and 15 RBI.

Paulson had 63 at-bats for the Rockies last year, batting .317 with four homers and 10 RBI.

Rockies place LF Corey Dickerson on DL, call up OF/1B Ben Paulsen

(5/19/2015) As expected Tuesday, the Rockies have placed left fielder Corey Dickerson (foot) on the 15-day disabled list and called up outfielder/first baseman Ben Paulsen from Triple-A, reports the Denver Post.

Dickerson was out of the lineup the last two games and has been dealing most of the season with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

"When I stopped on my toes, it felt like a tearing sensation, a burning, like somebody lit your heel on fire," Dickerson said.

Dickerson is batting .306 with five home runs and 16 RBI this season.

In 36 games for Triple-A Albuquerque, Paulson was batting .256 with three homers, eight doubles and 15 RBI.

Paulson had 63 at-bats for the Rockies last year, batting .317 with four homers and 10 RBI.

(5/19/2015) The Rockies are expected to place outfielder Corey Dickerson on the disabled list. Dickerson has been suffering from plantar fasciitis for the majority of the season.

Ben Paulsen has been recalled from Triple-A to take Dickerson's place on the roster. Paulsen has been hitting fairly well at Albuquerque, batting .256 with three homers and 15 RBI in 125 at-bats this season. He is on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.


Rockies option Chad Bettis, Ben Paulsen to minors

(3/22/2015) The Rockies optioned three players and reassigned nine other to their minor league camp on Sunday. 

Optioned to the minors were

RHP Chad Bettis, who is converting from relief to a starting pitcher. He didn't allow a run in five spring innings. "He's in a good place," manager Walt Weiss said, per the Denver Post. "There's some clarity in his role and what he needs to do. It was a positive camp for him."

First baseman Ben Paulsen, who had a .108 spring average. "He hasn't had a great spring," Weiss said. "But that doesn't diminish what I think of the guy."

LHP Chris Rusin, who had a 6.43 spring ERA. 

Reassigned to minor league camp were: LHP Kraig Sitton, LHP Aaron Laffey, LHP John Lannan, RHP Jair Jurrjens, RHP Brett Marshall, catcher Audry Perez, infielders Trevor Story and Omar Quintanilla, and outfielder Roger Bernadina.
