Elian Herrera cranks out five hits in win over Cardinals

(7/13/2014) Brewers outfielder Elian Herrera had a career day Sunday afternoon with five hits in a win against the Cardinals.

Herrera doubled in the sixth and added four singles, finishing a perfect 5 for 5 with three runs scored in an 11-2 victory. He owns a .276/.281/.333 with two RBI in 87 at-bats.

Herrera takes the roster spot of Jean Segura, who was placed on the bereavement list. Herrera has hit .235/.241/.284 with two stolen bases in 81 at-bats.

Schafer, who was sent down three weeks ago, received sporadic playing time with Milwaukee previous to that and managed just 15 hits in 79 at-bats.

Herrera played in just one game for the Dodgers, as he went 1 for 3 on May 8 against the Diamondbacks. He hit .250 with two homers and 16 RBI at Triple-A before he was promoted on May 7.
