Machado was sent down to clear a roster spot for Buck Farmer, who's set to start Thursday against the Angels. He went 1 for 7 with a walk in three appearances with the Tigers and returns to a .274/.339/.331 line with one home run, 16 RBI and five stolen bases in 157 at-bats with Toledo.

Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera out of lineup Monday

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(5/25/2015) First baseman Miguel Cabrera was not in the Tigers lineup Monday, the first time all season the slugger has not started. Cabrera will be replaced at first base by Hernan Perez.

Manager Brad Ausmus said that Cabrera's ankle has been cranky the last few days, making Monday a good time to give the slugger an off-day following the team's flight to Oakland, the Detroit Free Press reports. He is available as a pinch-hitter against the A's.

"Just give him a day mentally," said Ausmus when asked if he considered tabbing Cabrera as the designated hitter, per MLive.com. "His ankle has been a little cranky the last few days, so it's a good time. Especially after the flight."

In addition, rookie shortstop Dixon Machado will make the first start of his MLB career and hit ninth for the Tigers. Machado was called up from Triple-A on Sunday as Jose Iglesias battles a sore knee.

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/24/2015) The Tigers placed pitcher Kyle Lobstein on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday, after struggling through a start on Saturday night.

Lobstein is suffering from a sore left shoulder.

"He had complained of shoulder soreness here and there, nothing major," manager Brad Ausmus said, per MLB.com. "In the back of my mind, I thought something might be wrong. His velocity has been down almost all year."

The Tigers called up infielder Dixon Machado from Triple-A Toledo to replace him on the roster. Buck Farmer will be called up to replace Lobstein in the rotation for Thursday's start.
