Neil Wagner to throw bullpen session next week

(7/16/2014) Blue Jays reliever Neil Wagner will throw his first bullpen session next week as he works his way back from a forearm injury, reports USA Today. Wagner posted an 8.10 ERA in 10 appearances this year before getting sent down in May.

(7/2/2014) Blue Jays reliever Neil Wagner's three weeks of rest came to an end Wednesday, as he began throwing for the first time since early June.

Wagner took three weeks of recommended rest to allow his injured forearm to heal, but SportsNet.ca reports he has begun his throwing program. At this point, there remains no timetable for his return to game action, however.

(6/12/2014) Blue Jays pitcher Neil Wagner will rest his forearm injury, according to Sportsnet. 

Wagner visited with Dr. James Andrews to determine the extent of his injury. It was decided Wagner will rest for three weeks before starting a throwing program. He appeared in 10 games in the majors, but was sent down in late-May.

Wagner has made nine appearances with the Blue Jays this season, posting a 3.12 ERA and 6:3 K:BB ratio in 8 2/3 innings. He has also pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings with Triple-A Buffalo.

(8/2/2013) The Blue Jays announced after Thursday's loss to the Angels that pitcher Neil Wagner has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take the roster spot of outfielder Melky Cabrera, who was sent to the disabled list.

Wagner has made 20 appearances with the Blue Jays this season, going 2-3 with a 3.26 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB ratio in 19 1/3 innings. He owns a 0.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB ratio in 23 2/3 innings at Buffalo.

Wagner notched a 0.89 ERA in 19 games for Buffalo and struck out 32 batters against eight walks. He last appeared in the majors in 2011 with Oakland.
