by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

"He's going to be in there most every day now," Hale said. "The way he's played, he's forced his way in there."

Inciarte is set to fill the leadoff spot moving forward, with former leadoff man A.J. Pollock sliding down to the No. 2 spot.

"I think Pollock in the two-hole is dynamic," Hale said. "He's got a little more power and Ender has done a better job of getting on base at this point so far."

Hale said he's still try to find some playing time for David Peralta, but with Inciarte entering play Thursday hitting .406/.441/.594 in 32 at-bats, the manager has had trouble finding a good time to take him out of the lineup.

Diamondbacks' Inciarte ready to compete for roster spot

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Outfielder Ender Inciarte was one of the Diamondbacks' top performers in the second half last season, but even a strong finish to the year couldn't secure him a starting job this season. Therefore, Inciarte will be competing for a spot on the roster this spring.

"There's a lot of competition here, but you only control what you can control," Inciarte said, per The Arizona Republic. "I know I can play defense. I know I can run. And I know I can hit. I've just got to do my job. I want to have a chance to play, but I'm ready to take any opportunity they give me or any role.

"I know whatever happens is going to be the best thing for me. I know if I go to Triple-A, I'm going to do my best and find my way back."

Inciarte shouldn't be talking about Triple-A just yet, especially not when you are on the manager's radar.

"He's the type of player you like to have because he can do so many different things," manager Chip Hale said. "He's kind of a throwback to when we played and being able to use all those different tools in a game instead of just waiting for the big home run."

Diamondbacks' Ender Inciarte fighting for a spot

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(3/3/2015) Diamondbacks outfielder Ender Inciarte is hoping to prove he deserves a spot, according to azcentral.com.

Inciarte flashed potential during the second half of the season in 2014, but is on the fringes of the 25-man roster this spring. For right now, he's open to any role the team will give him.

"There's a lot of competition here, but you only control what you can control," Inciarte said. "I know I can play defense. I know I can run. And I know I can hit. I've just got to do my job. I want to have a chance to play, but I'm ready to take any opportunity they give me or any role."

Manager Chip Hale praised Inciarte's versatility, saying Inciarte is "the type of player you like to have because he can do so many different things."

Inciarte knows the odds are against him, but knows whatever decision the team makes will be for the best. "I know whatever happens is going to be the best thing for me," he said. "I know if I go to Triple-A, I'm going to do my best and find my way back."

The 24-year-old hit .278/.318/.359 over 418 at-bats last year.
