Abraham Almonte leaves with injury Saturday

(12:17 am ET) Padres outfielder Abraham Almonte left Saturday's game with an ankle issue.

Almonte hit a ground-rule double in the third inning. He had trouble getting the second base, and appeared to injury his ankle. He was replaced by a pinch-runner. Almonte finished 1 for 1, with a double.

Almonte hasn't been able to start since Sept. 6 while recovering from an ankle sprain, though he did appear as a pinch hitter this past weekend. He owns a .232/.278/.333 line with three home runs, 15 RBI and four stolen bases in 198 at-bats.

Almonte was able to make a pinch-hit appearance Sunday, but he hasn't played in the outfield since Sept. 6 while dealing with the injury. He has hit .232/.278/.333 with three home runs, 15 RBI and four stolen bases in 198 at-bats.

(8/27/2014) Padres outfielder Abraham Almonte went 2 for 3 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and one stolen base in his team's 4-1 win over the Brewers Tuesday.

Almonte put his team ahead for good with his first-inning solo home run, which he followed up with an RBI single in a three-run third inning. He has hit .239/.277/.356 with three home runs, 15 RBI and four stolen bases in 163 at-bats.

Almonte's sixth-inning home run was his first since being acquired by the Padres, but he's managed to string together a modest four-game hitting streak. He owns a .214/.259/.333 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 126 at-bats.

(7/31/2014) The Padres acquired outfielder Abraham Almonte and pitcher Stephen Kohlscheen from the Mariners in exchange for outfielder Chris Denorfia, according to MLB.com.

Almonte, who began the season as the Mariners' starting center fielder, is batting .267 with six home runs, 10 doubles, 31 RBI and seven stolen bases in 72 games since his early May demotion to Triple-A Tacoma.

Kohlscheen is 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 38 relief appearances between Double-A Jackson and Tacoma. He also has six saves and has 55 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings.

Almonte was demoted after batting .198 with one home run and eight RBI in 26 games. He struck out 40 times and drew just six walks.

(4/5/2014) Mariners outfielder Abraham Almonte unleashed his first home run of the season on Saturday against the A's in Oakland.

Almonte took Dan Straily deep for a solo shot in the fifth inning. He finished 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI in a 3-1 win. He has collected an RBI for the second straight game, raising his batting average to .286 (6 for 21) on the year.

(4/2/2014) Outfielder Abraham Almonte has started both games in center field for the Mariners to open their series against the Angels. Through two games, Almonte is batting .300 (3 for 10) with one run, two doubles, two RBI, three strikeouts and one caught stealing.

Almonte hit just .178 in 23 spring games, but he nearly drew as many walks (eight) as he had strikeouts (10). Almonte also had two home runs, three doubles, four RBI, three stolen bases and 11 runs this spring.

(9/11/2013) Mariners outfielder Abraham Almonte is dealing with some tightness in his legs and could not start Wednesday against Houston, the Tacoma News Tribune reports. Almonte was removed early from Tuesday's game and is day to day. 

The 24-year-old has gone 9 for 34 (.265) over 11 games thus far for Seattle. He has a homer and five RBI.
