(7/31/2014) The Padres outrighted pitcher Jason Lane to Triple-A El Paso Thursday, two days after he was designated for assignment.

Lane appeared in three games for the Padres, allowing just one run in 10 1/3 innings while going 0-1.

(7/28/2014) The oldest pitcher to make his starting debut in Padres history certainly distinguished himself Monday in Atlanta despite taking the defeat.

Jason Lane, who will turn 38 in December, yielded just one run on six hits in six innings. He walked none, fanned two and remained in the game until yielding a homer to Evan Gattis in the seventh inning.

If he has earned another start, his turn would come this weekend against the same Braves in San Diego.

(7/27/2014) The Padres announced Jason Lane will start Monday at Atlanta in place of starting pitcher Ian Kennedy, who was scratched due to an oblique injury. Kennedy is not expected to go on the disabled list, so this could be a one-and-done situation for Lane, who pitched twice in relief in June for San Diego.

Lane's roster spot goes to Saturday starter Andrew Cashner, who was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move. Lane made two appearances with the Padres, pitching 4 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out four, walking none and giving up just one hit.

Pitcher Eric Stults was placed on the bereavement list, while fellow pitcher Donn Roach was optioned to Triple-A El Paso. In their open roster spots, pitcher Jesse Hahn was recalled from Double-A San Antonio, while pitcher Jason Lane had his contract purchased from El Paso.

Padres sign Jason Lane, Gabe Suarez to minor-league deals

(12/5/2013) The Padres have signed pitcher Jason Lane and second baseman Gabe Suarez to minor-league deals, Baseball America reports.

Lane signed with the Padres in July as well and went 2-2 with a 5.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 33:6 K:BB ratio in 46 1/3 innings. Suarez, who was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 2003 and 2004, hit .261/.318/.322 with 21 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 264 at-bats with El Paso of the American Association last season.
