(5/17/2001) With Adrian Brown now sidelined for most of the rest of the season, Emil Brown stands to get a lot more playing time in center field for the Pirates. (4/18/2001) The Pirates' placing Adrian Brown on the disabled list gives Emil Brown a chance to play everyday in center field, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Emil Brown really doesn't offer anything other than speed to the Fantasy owner, and he's not as good a hitter as Adrian Brown. But if you're looking for an extra outfielder in a deep NL-only league, consider picking him up as a short-term stopgap.
(9/21/2000) Outfielder Brian Giles' abdominal injury has forced him from the lineup for the past several games. The primary beneficiary of that is Brown, who has started in LF the past two games and has gone 3-for-9. Injuries and OF logjams have prevented Brown from seeing appreciable playing time, but he has produced each time he's been given the opportunity.
(7/24/2000) Brown was activated from the 15-day DL, and will serve as the fifth OF until OF Adrian Brown returns from the DL. LHP Jeff Wallace was optioned to AAA Nashville to create roster space. Emil Brown won't get enough playing time before his demotion to AAA to be worth picking up.
(1:00 am ET) Brown (urological problem) will be placed on the 15-day DL Monday, and 3B Aramis Ramirez has been recalled from AAA Nashville to take his place on the roster. Ramirez has improved his stroke at AAA and could force his way into more playing time if he can display his improvement early on. Any fantasy value that Brown had is gone.
(9/24/1999) The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled outfielder Emil Brown from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday to replace Brian Giles, who is out for the rest of the season with a broken finger. Brown hit .307 with 20 doubles, 18 home runs and 60 RBIs in 110 games at Nashville. He also stole 16 bases.
