by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/24/2014) Astros pitcher Paul Clemens was ejected Thursday night against the A's after hitting Jed Lowrie with a pitch in the seventh.

Clemens appeared to have been retaliating from an incident with Lowrie a week ago. He was on the mound when Lowrie bunted with a 7-0 in the first inning on April 18.

Clemens allowed three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and one walk while striking out two over 2 2/3 innings before the ejections. He owns a 5.40 ERA over 10 innings pitched.

Paul Clemens a tough-luck loser in return

by Al Melchior | Data Analyst
(9/15/2013) Paul Clemens had a successful return to the Astros' rotation after getting skipped on his last turn due to a blister. Holding the Angels to two runs over seven innings on Sunday wasn't enough, though, as the visitors prevailed, 2-1.

Paul Clemens poor in no-decision

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(9/2/2013) Astros starting pitcher Paul Clemens made his second career appearance as a starter Monday afternoon at home against the Twins. It wasn't a very successful outing for the young starter.

Clemens was afforded with the no-decision as his Houston offense scored six times over the first three innings behind him. Unfortunately, Clemens couldn't take advantage and allowed four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and three walks and lasted only 3 2/3 innings. He couldn't qualify for the win.

Clemens, who gave up two home runs on the outing and didn't strike out a batter over 77 pitches, now has a 5.91 ERA on the season. The 25-year-old has appeared in 32 career games, but has made only two starts. He was much better his last time out over six innings with just one run allowed in a no-decision.

Clemens is scheduled to get another start for manager Bo Porter. That is expected to come Sunday to conclude a series at Oakland.

Paul Clemens solid in first career start

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2013) Astros pitcher Paul Clemens took his 6.36 ERA into his first career major league start Tuesday night in Chicago. Called up earlier in the day, Clemens had appeared previously only in relief.

He was good enough to win, but that doesn't mean much these days for Houston starters. His bullpen gave up his lead as he took a no-decision.

Clemens allowed one run on four hits and two walks over six solid innings in a quality start. He struck out two and threw 78 pitches to lower that high ERA to 5.81.

The Astros saw what they wanted out of Clemens in the minors and apparently are going to roll with him in the team's six-man rotation going forward. Clemens should make his next start Monday against Minnesota.

Paul Clemens called up

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(8/27/2013) Astros pitcher Paul Clemens has been called up for Tuesday's start.

The move was announced Monday, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Clemens has not started a game in the majors, but has a 6.36 ERA in 46 2/3 innings. He'll take on the White Sox Tuesday.

Paul Clemens to start Tuesday

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/26/2013) Astros pitcher Paul Clemens, who pitched in the bullpen for Houston earlier this season, will return from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Tuesday against Chicago, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Clemens has gone 3-2 with a 4.50 ERA with Oklahoma City this year. He was 4-4 with a 6.36 ERA earlier over 30 relief appearances for Houston.

"He’s been doing well," Bo Porter said of Clemens. "We sent him to Oklahoma City with the notion of putting him in the rotation and allowing him to be built up. He pitched out of the bullpen early in the year. This remainder of the season we want to see how he looks like as a starter so that we can better evaluate the role he will be able to play in next year’s team."
