Nick Vincent earns win with two perfect innings Monday

(8/12/2014) Padres pitcher Nick Vincent picked up a win Monday, retiring all six batters he faced in the sixth and seventh innings in his team's 4-3 victory over the Rockies.

Vincent (1-2) struck out three in the outing while throwing 15 of his 21 pitches for strikes. He was called upon after the Rockies took the lead on a three-run home run with no outs in the sixth and combined with two other San Diego relievers to retire the last 12 batters of the game, including a whopping nine strikeouts. Vincent owns a 4.21 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 42:8 K:BB ratio in 36 1/3 innings.

(7/19/2014) Padres pitcher Nick Vincent has been reinstated from the disabled list prior to Saturday's game against the Mets, the team announced. Vincent appeared in two rehab games with Class A Lake Elsinore, registering a scoreless frame in each outing.

Vincent will likely slide back into his late-inning role as a setup man, just behind newly appointed closer Joaquin Benoit.

(7/12/2014) Padres pitcher Nick Vincent completed a 30-pitch bullpen session without any issues on Friday, MLB.com reports. He is expected to start a minor-league rehab assignment Monday for Class A Lake Elsinore.

"His stuff was crisp, and he used all of his pitches and simulated some at-bats against lefty and righty hitters," manager Bud Black said.

It was Vincent's first bullpen session since going on the disabled list in mid-June with shoulder fatigue. He's set to join the team for its upcoming road trip, so he may be on the way to getting activated before the All-Star break. Vincent owns a 5.67 ERA and 32:6 K:BB ratio in 27 innings.

(5/7/2014) Padres pitcher Nick Vincent was stuck with a loss Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on three hits while striking out one in the 11th inning of his team's 3-1 loss to the Royals.

Vincent (0-1) was tagged for a leadoff double in the 11th before a one-out single broke the 1-1 tie. The next batter smacked another double to plate another run, but Vincent was able to escape the inning without allowing any further damage. He has surrendered runs in three of his last four appearances, leaving him with a 3.14 ERA and 13:2 K:BB ratio in 14 1/3 innings.

(6/11/2013) The Padres recalled reliever Nick Vincent from Triple-A Tucson Tuesday, taking the place of Burch Smith, who was optioned.

Vincent appeared in two games for the Padres before being sent back to Triple-A, tossing four scoreless innings at the end of May. He is expected to pitch in middle relief.

Vincent appeared in 27 games for the Padres in 2012, posting a 1.71 ERA, and was 4-3 with a 4.15 ERA at Tucson prior to the call up.

(3/16/2013) Padres relief pitcher Nick Vincent is scheduled to visit a specialist in San Diego early next week to have his ailing right wrist examined, MLB.com reports. An MRI exam on Friday ruled out any structural damage for Vincent, who has been sidelined since the start of spring training with the issue.

After spending four years in the minors, the 26-year-old made his major-league debut last year, posting a 2-0 record and 1.71 ERA in 27 relief appearances for the Padres.
