Jeff Beliveau gets the call Tuesday

(7/22/2014) The Rays recalled pitcher Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Durham Tuesday, after Joel Peralta was placed on the disabled list.

Beliveau has been up and down with the Rays a few times this season, but has appeared in just two games. He has tossed a pair of scoreless innings in his time in the majors so far.

Beliveau was summoned Friday to take the place of Cesar Ramos, who went on paternity leave this weekend. With Ramos returning, Beliveau rejoins the Bulls. He didn't see an appearance in his recent stint with the team.

Beliveau was called up Tuesday, so his stay in the majors was short. He's tossed two scoreless innings in the majors this year. Beliveau will be replaced by Vince Belnome on the active roster.

Beliveau is in his third stint with the Rays this season. He has a 1.10 ERA for Durham, and has retired all six batters faced in the majors.

A corresponding move has yet to be announced, though many assume Matt Moore will head to the disabled list after leaving Monday's game with an injury. Beliveau is on his way to Kansas City, where the team is currently in the middle of a three-game series with the Royals.

Beliveau has made 11 Triple-A appearances this season, with one coming with the Rangers' affiliate. He has a 3.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB ratio in 12 1/3 innings in Triple-A this year.

(3/19/2013) The Rangers made another wave of roster cuts Tuesday, optioning pitchers Jeff Beliveau and Wilmer Font, outfielder Engel Beltre and first baseman Mike Olt to Triple-A Round Rock. Texas also moved first basemen Brandon Allen and Brandon Snyder, catchers Jose Felix and Juan Apodaca, pitchers Collin Balester, Neal CottsEvan Meek and Yoshinori Tateyama to its minor-league camp.

Olt is viewed as one of the club's top prospects, but struggled during his spring audition and hit just .194 in Cactus League play. The 24-year-old did manage two homers and should rise to the Rangers later in the year.

(8/31/2012) The Cubs recalled relief pitcher Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Iowa on Friday to take the roster spot of fellow pitcher Brooks Raley, who was shut down for the season after making his final start of the season. Beliveau was sent to Iowa on Aug. 21 after spending a month in the majors.
