Orioles summon pitchers Steve Johnson, Oliver Drake from Triple-A

(9/1/2015) The Orioles have recalled a pair of right-handed pitchers from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. Steve Johnson and Oliver Drake have been added to the active roster and will be available for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Johnson hasn't appeared in the Major Leagues since making nine appearances--including one start--in 2013. At Norfolk this season, Johnson was 4-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 32 appearances.

Drake, a 28-year-old rookie, spent five games with the Orioles earlier this season, posting a 3.52 ERA in 7 2/3 innings of relief.

(6/21/2015) The Orioles promoted pitcher Oliver Drake from Triple-A Norfolk, the team announced on Sunday. 

Drake is 0-1 with an 0.76 ERA in 21 games with Norfolk this year. 

The Orioles optioned pitcher Kevin Gausman to Norfolk. Gausman is 1-0 with a 4.24 ERA with the Orioles this year. 

"We don’t want to put Gausman in the bullpen,” manager Buck Showalter said. “We think he has a chance to be in our rotation, next year possibly this year, who knows? We don’t want next year to get here and him not have enough innings under his belt to pitch next season…there’s no reason to keep him here when he’s not going to start here.”

Wilson earned his first major league win Friday, but gave up a run on three hits in just one inning in the appearance.

(6/11/2013) Orioles minor-league pitcher Oliver Drake, who has been rehabbing after shoulder surgery, is expected to be activated this week for Double-A Bowie, the Baltimore Sun reports. He will pitch as a reliever. 

The 26-year-old Drake went 1-1 with with a 1.50 ERA over three starts for Double-A Bowie last season.
