Nationals unveil list of September callups

(9/1/2014) The Nationals announced their September callups on Monday. Before making any moves, the team activated Steven Souza from the 15-day disabled list. Washington called up the following players: Sandy Leon, Blake Treinen, Xavier Cedeno, Tyler Moore and Aaron Barrett.

(8/5/2014) The Nationals recalled catcher Sandy Leon from Triple-A Syracuse Tuesday, after Wilson Ramos was placed on the paternity leave list.  

Leon appeared in 18 games earlier in the season with Ramos on the disabled list. He hit .169/.234/.237 in 59 at-bats, and is likely to spend just a few days with the team this time around.

(6/11/2014) Nationals catcher Sandy Leon will rejoin the major-league team after Wilson Ramos was placed on the disabled list, MLB.com reports.

Leon spent some time with the Nationals earlier this season, hitting .182/.265/.273 with one home run and three RBI in 44 at-bats. He has hit .294/.390/.392 with six RBI in 51 at-bats with Triple-A Syracuse.

Leon had a tough time in the majors, hitting .182 in 44 at-bats. With Wilson Ramos back, the team was carrying three catchers. Leon has been replaced by Greg Dobbs.

(4/14/2014) Nationals catcher Sandy Leon went 2 for 5 with his first home run of the season and two RBI in his team's 9-2 win over the Marlins Monday.

Leon opened the season 0 for 11 in his first three games before getting his first hit Saturday. He then stepped things up Monday, connecting on a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Leon should continue to see extended action with Wilson Ramos sidelined.

Leon could be with the Nationals for a long stretch, as Ramos is expected to miss 4-5 weeks, but Jose Lobaton is expected to get the bulk of work in Ramos' absence.
