Cardinals recall Marco Gonzales, two others on Tuesday

(9/1/2015) The Cardinals have officially recalled left-hander Marco Gonzales from Triple-A Memphis. Gonzales will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, making his season debut for the Cards.

In 2014, the rookie pitcher went 4-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 10 appearances (five starts). He's dealt with injuries this season, and posted a 4.42 ERA in 17 starts across three levels of the Cardinals' minor league system in 2015.

Joining Gonzales from Memphis are right-hander Mitch Harris and catcher Cody Stanley


Cards promote Cooney, demote Stanley; Wainwright to 60-day DL

(4/30/2015) The Cardinals officially purchased the contract of left-hander Tim Cooney and optioned catcher Cody Stanley down to Triple-A Memphis. Adam Wainwright, who had season-ending Achilles surgery, was transferred to the 60-day disabled list, per the team's official website. He's expected to return in 10-12 months, per USA Today.

Cooney will get the start Thursday afternoon against the Phillies. He was 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA in three starts (17 2/3 innings pitched) for Memphis this season. He won a Pacific Coast League-best 14 games last season.


Cardinals option Cody Stanley

(4/29/2015) The Cardinals optioned catcher Cody Stanley after Wednesday's win over the Phillies, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The move clears a spot on the active roster for Tim Cooney, who is scheduled to start Thursday. Stanley was brought up with Yadier Molina dealing with an injury over the weekend and went 1 for 3 and scored a run in limited action while with the team.


Cardinals option Aledmys Diaz, Cody Stanley; re-assign two

(3/23/2015) The Cardinals have optioned infielder Aledmys Diaz and catcher Cody Stanley to Triple-A Memphis and have also re-assigned outfielder Rafael Ortega and catcher Travis Tartamella to minor-league camp, the team announced Monday.

Diaz was 2 for 8 in six spring games, while Stanley was 5 for 12 with three doubles and one home run.
