Pirates RP Rob Scahill throws light bullpen session

(7/24/2015) Pirates relief pitcher Rob Scahill threw a light bullpen session on Thursday, as he continues to work his way froma forearm injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Scahill also threw some pitches from flat groung earlier this week in Kansas City.

“It’s all loosened up, so it’s all good,” Scahill said.

Scahill will throw another bullpen session on Saturday before heading to the Pirates' facility in Florida for the beginning of a rehab assignment.

“That way it’s a little bit easier to get my throwing and stuff in,” Scahill said. “If they want me to throw a [simulated] game or something, then none of these guys have to stand in. It can just be against some minor leaguers. Do that maybe once or twice and then hopefully out on rehab after that.”

(7/12/2015) Pirates relief pitcher Rob Scahill will continue to throw as a part of his recovery from forearm tightness that landed him on the 15-day disabled list, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette.

Scahill has thrown twice this week prior to games, and will continue that trend through the weekend.

“The next step for him will be do that again and maybe add some pitches to it,” manager Clint Hurdle said.

Holdzkom registered a 3.38 ERA in eight inning of work this spring. Scahill allowed two runs in 10 innings of work.

(7/30/2014) Rockies pitcher Rob Scahill earned a win Wednesday, giving up a hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning in his team's 6-4, 10-inning win over the Cubs.

Scahill (1-0) just joined the team Wednesday after the bullpen was taxed by a 16-inning game the previous night. He needed just 12 pitches to complete the bottom of the ninth inning, and his offense delivered two runs in the top of the 10th. Scahill owns a 5.68 ERA and 3:4 K:BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings.

The team went through a 16-inning game Tuesday night, so extra help in the bullpen was needed for Wednesday's game. Adames went 0 for 3 in his debut Tuesday before being sent back down. Scahill has given up four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings over three appearances with the Rockies.
