One reason for the placement is that left-handers owned a .327 batting average against Vargas last season.

Tyler Collins on power binge at Double-A

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/5/2013) Tigers outfield prospect Tyler Collins has been on a power binge for Double-A Erie, homering for the fifth straight game Saturday. Collins has six home runs and 12 RBI in his last five games.

Collins, who is considered the Tigers' sixth-best prospect by MLB.com, is batting .262 with six doubles, seven home runs and 19 RBI in 23 games. He's slugging .583.

Collins had eight home runs in 2011 and seven home runs in 2012.

"I don't think there's a big difference in my mental approach, I'm trying to still drive the ball," Collins said, per MLB.com. "You do get a few bigger fields in the Florida State League than in the Eastern League from what I've seen so far. I feel really comfortable hitting the ball the other way. Last year, I got away from driving the ball in the opposite direction and started trying to pull everything. As guys move up with me on other teams and they're trying to pitch me away, and I feel like I'm trying to drive the ball versus just hit it the other way."
