Jake Marisnick up, Jacob Realmuto down for Marlins

(7/28/2014) The Marlins have demoted catcher Jacob Realmuto from Triple-A New Orleans and recalled outfielder Jake Marisnick from the same team.

Realmuto has four hits in 20 at-bats in his big league stints this season. Marisnick spent three weeks in the minors after managing eight hits - all singles - in 47 at-bats with Miami.

(7/25/2014) The Marlins recalled catcher Jacob Realmuto from Double-A Jacksonville Friday, after sending Anthony DeSclafani down.

Realmuto appeared in seven games earlier in the season for the Marlins, driving in five runs while hitting just .200 in 20 at-bats. He was hitting .301/.368/.474 at Jacksonville.  


Marlins option two players to minors Wednesday

(6/18/2014) The Marlins announced after Wednesday's game against the Cubs they optioned reliever Dan Jennings to Triple-A New Orleans and catcher Jacob Realmuto to Double-A Jacksonville. They replaced both players on the roster by recalling reliever Kevin Gregg and activating catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) off the 15-day disabled list.

(6/5/2014) The Marlins got big performances out of two rookies Thursday against the Rays, as catcher Jacob Realmuto and first baseman Justin Bour combined for four hits in their respective major-league debuts in an 11-6 win.

Realmuto stood out, despite batting eighth in his first game. He drove in three runs with a 2-for-4 game, with one RBI single in the fourth and another in the sixth inning. Bour batted ahead of him and drove in one run of his own, while finishing the game 2 for 5.

(6/1/2014) Marlins catcher Jacob Realmuto has been called up from the minors Sunday.

Realmuto will replace Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the active roster. Saltalamacchia was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list. Realmuto is hitting .301 in 173 at-bats in Triple-A.


Marlins take 12 players off spring roster

(3/12/2014) The Marlins took 12 players off their spring roster Wednesday, per The Miami Herald. Among the cuts were top pitching prospects Justin Nicolino  and Anthony DeSclafani, who were reassigned to minor-league camp.

Jesus SanchezColby Suggs and Avery Romero were also reassigned to minor-league camp, while Michael Brady and Kyle Jensen were optioned to Triple-A New Orleans. Grant DaytonAngel SanchezJose UrenaJacob Realmuto and Brent Keys were optioned to Double-A Jacksonville.
