Report: Yankees bring back Jose Campos

(12/15/2014) The Yankees have elected to bring back pitcher Jose Campos , according to the Journal News.

Campos was non-tendered by the club earlier in the season, but chose to return. The 21-year-old posted a 3.41 ERA over 87 innings in Class A last year.

(12/3/2014) The Yankees non-tendered outfielder Slade Heathcott, and pitchers Jose Campos and David Huff prior to Tuesday's deadline, making them free agents, reports the New York Post. Heathcott was a first round pick (29th overall) by the Yankees in 2009.  Both he and Campos spent the season in the minors. Huff posted a 3.36 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP over 59 innings of relief in 2014.

(4/26/2014) Yankees pitching prospect Jose Campos underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday, MLB.com reports. Campos was placed on the minor-league disabled list on Thursday with elbow inflammation before the team announced Friday's procedure. The 21-year-old did not make an appearance this season for Class A Charleston.

(3/13/2014) The Yankees optioned pitcher Bryan Mitchell to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and pitcher Jose Campos to Class A Tampa on Thursday, the team announced.

Mitchell pitched three scoreless innings this spring while Campos saw just one scoreless inning of work in a Grapefruit League game.

Campos will report to the team's Single-A affiliate. He was acquired in the Jesus Montero/Michael Pineda swap, but has dealt with elbow injuries the past few seasons.

(3/12/2014) Yankees pitcher Jose Campos made his spring debut Wednesday, pitching a scoreless sixth inning while allowing one hit and recording one strikeout in his team's 7-7 tie with the Tigers.

Campos has dealt with elbow issues the past two years but went 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 77:16 K:BB ratio in 87 innings for Class A Charleston in 2013. This is his first action with the major-league team in spring training in his career.

(3/3/2014) Yankees pitchers Manny Banuelos and Jose Campos threw live batting practice Monday, MLB.com reports, and Banuelos is "a little closer" to playing in Grapefruit League games than Campos, per manager Joe Girardi.

Banuelos is recovering from Tommy John surgery from 2012, while Campos has also dealt with elbow issues over the past two seasons.

(11/20/2013) The Yankees added catcher Gary Sanchez, outfielder Slade Heathcott and pitchers Jose Campos, Shane Greene and Bryan Mitchell to the 40-man roster Wednesday while also outrighting infielder Corban Joseph to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sanchez hit .253/.324/.412 with 15 home runs and 71 RBI in 454 at-bats between high Class A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. Heathcott hit .261/.327/.411 with eight home runs, 49 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 399 at-bats with Double-A Trenton.

Campos went 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 77:16 K:BB ratio in 87 innings for Class A Charleston. Greene went 12-10 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 137:30 K:BB ratio in 154 1/3 innings between high Class A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. Mitchell went 4-11 with a 5.12 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 104:53 K:BB ratio in 126 2/3 innings for high Class A Tampa while allowing four earned runs in 18 2/3 innings over three Double-A starts.

Joseph went 1 for 6 in two appearances with the Yankees while hitting .239/.329/.383 with six home runs and 19 RBI in 188 at-bats with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
