Muno was called up after Sunday's game and will be immediately inserted into the lineup at third base. Normally a second baseman, Muno has seen 46 appearances at third base in the minors, with 20 coming this season.

Muno has hit .280/.354/.400 in 100 at-bats with Triple-A Las Vegas. His only other start with the Mets came in late April when he served as the designated hitter in an American League park.

The Mets are heavy favorites (-165) at home on Monday, per VegasInsider.com.

Mets' Danny Muno in lineup Sunday vs. Yankees

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/26/2015) Mets infielder Danny Muno is in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Yankees.

Muno, who is serving as the team's designated hitter and batting eighth, is making his first start of the season. He's 1 for 3 with a stolen base while serving as a pinch-hitter.

"I knew coming into the series that I was going to DH Danny Muno today," manager Terry Collins said. "And I really don't want to tell you why, because I don't want them to know why. But there's a reason why he's in there today."

The Mets are underdogs (+135) against their in-town rivals Sunday.

Mets promote INF Danny Muno, demote RP Rafael Montero

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/17/2015) The Mets purchased the contract of infielder Danny Muno from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Friday's game against Miami. New York optioned reliever Rafael Montero down to the Las Vegas to clear a spot on the roster for Muno.

Muno, 26, batted .235 in six minor-league games this season. Montero allowed an unearned run in two-thirds of an inning against the Marlins on Thursday. He owns a 4.15 ERA in 4 1/3 innings.

Mets to promote Danny Muno Friday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/16/2015) The Mets announced Thursday that infielder Danny Muno would join the team before Friday's game against the Marlins.

Muno was expected to be with the team to begin the season had second baseman Daniel Murphy not been ready for Opening Day, but as he wasn't needed, he headed to Triple-A Las Vegas, where he went 4 for 17 with three walks and two stolen bases in his first six games. He'll likely share time at third base while David Wright is sidelined. The team did not announce a corresponding move.

Report: Mets 2B Daniel Murphy will likely be ready for Opening Day

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/1/2015) Despite suffering from a hamstring injury, Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy appears likely to make the Opening Day roster, a source told the New York Daily News.

Murphy is recovering from a hamstring injury. If he's not ready by Opening Day, the team will turn to Danny Muno over Matt Reynolds as Murphy's replacement.

Report: Mets likely to keep Muno over Reynolds, if Murphy goes on DL

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/30/2015) If Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy begins the season on the disabled list due to a hamstring injury, the team is more likely to choose Danny Muno over prospect Matt Reynolds to replace him on the roster, a team source told ESPN.

If Murphy is out, the Mets prefer to have Muno and Ruben Tejada play at second base, with Reynolds being sent to Triple-A to start at shortstop.

One of the reasons the Mets are considering sending Reynolds to the minors is because the team doesn't want to avoid a dilemma in case Reynolds thrives in Murphy's absence and manager Terry Collins wants to keep him around as a bench option. They do not want to start his MLB service time for a backup role.
