Diamondbacks recall Yasmany Tomas, option A.J. Schugel

(4/15/2015) The Diamondbacks have recalled outfielder Yasmany Tomas and optioned pitcher A.J. Schugel, the team announced Wednesday.

Tomas, who signed a six-year, $68.5 million deal in the offseason, was playing right field with Triple-A Reno to begin the year. Tomas hit .190 in 21 at-bats in Triple-A. Schugel threw three scoreless innings for Arizona, recording two walks with no strikeouts.


Dodgers place C Laird (back) on DL, recall P Schugel

(4/12/2015) The Diamondbacks announced Sunday that they have placed catcher Gerald Laird on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 9, with lower back spasms, and that they have recalled pitcher A.J. Schugel from Triple-A Reno. 

Laird, who made the team as a non-roster invitee in spring, was scheduled to start Saturday, but was a late scratch from the lineup with back tightness. 

Schugel was 6-4 with a 3.47 ERA in 26 starts for Double-A Mobile last season. 


Allen Webster among Diamondbacks cuts Monday

(3/30/2015) The Diamondbacks optioned pitcher Matt Reynolds, pitcher A.J. Schugel and pitcher Allen Webster to Triple-A Reno. They also reassigned outfielder Nick Buss, infielder Walter Ibarra and pitcher Dan Runzler to minor-league camp Monday.

Diamondbacks shore up 40-man roster

(11/20/2014) The Diamondbacks have shored up their 40-man roster Thursday.

The team purchased the contract of pitcher Kevin Munson and A.J. Schugel . Both players are now unavailable for the Rule-5 draft. In order to make room on the roster, the team designated Mike Bolsinger and Charles Brewer for assignment.
