Shawn Tolleson out 3-5 months after back surgery

(4/25/2013) Dodgers pitcher Shawn Tolleson had back surgery Thursday and is expected to miss 3-5 months, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Tolleson had been attempting to rehab after it was discovered he had a bulging disk in his lower back. Tolleson pitched in one game this year, allowing two walks and not recording an out.

(4/24/2013) Dodgers reliever Shawn Tolleson could require surgery on his injured back as his rehab has not gone according to plan, MLB.com reports.

Tolleson was placed on the disabled list on April 15 with a bulging disk in his lower back.

"I'll say his rehab is not going as they'd like," Mattingly said Wednesday.

(4/17/2013) Dodgers reliever Shawn Tolleson, on the 15-day disabled list, received an epidural injection for a bulging disk in his lower back on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

The right-hander hopes to resume throwing within two weeks.

"The epidural should help a lot and I'll fly to Arizona tomorrow to rehab," Tolleson said. "As soon as I'm feeling good, I'll jump back into throwing. I'm thinking two weeks."

(3/15/2013) Dodgers relief pitcher Shawn Tolleson nearly suffered a catastrophic injury Friday in Cactus League play against the Padres after taking a line rive off his throwing elbow.

Fortunately, Tolleson appeared to be fine after the game, with no MRI or X-ray planned.

"It might bruise up but nothing serious," Tolleson told MLB.com. "As long as it continues to feel fine I'll just ice it."

The injury is not expected to sideline him long during the spring. Tolleson is coming off a solid major-league debut in 2012, as he posted a 4.30 ERA in 37 2/3 innings.

(3/6/2013) Dodgers relief pitcher Shawn Tolleson’s knee injury is apparently not a serious one, as he told reporters he is healed just one day after suffering the injury. Tolleson said he felt something pop in his left knee after throwing a pitch in the game, but said Wednesday that he does not expect to miss much time. He will sit out of fielding and running drills for at least a day, but is already comfortable throwing the ball.
