Ronnier Mustelier returns in Class A

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(4/30/2013) Yankees minor league third baseman Ronnier Mustelier, who had been out since late March with a bone bruise in his knee, got the start for Class A Tampa Tuesday, Newsday reports.

Mustelier had been in the running to take over for the injured Alex Rodriguez during spring training before the injury.

Injury takes Ronnie Mustelier out of running

(3/28/2013) Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Thursday Ronnie Mustelier has a bone bruise in his knee, which takes him out of the running for a roster spot. Mustelier had a solid spring, batting .314 (11 for 35) with a double, a triple, two homers and five RBI in 21 games. He also had two stolen bases.

Ronnier Mustelier still has time to shine

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(3/19/2013) Yankees prospect Ronnier Mustelier returned to the lineup Tuesday for the first time in nearly a week and finished 0 for 2 with a sacrifice bunt during New York's 4-1 loss to Philadelphia in Grapefruit League action Tuesday. Mustelier had been sidelined since last Friday in order to rest the leg contusions he suffered after colliding with a railing while chasing a foul ball.

"They’ve been doing therapy on my legs, and I’m feeling a lot better," said Mustelier, who patrolled third base Tuesday. "Ten days are enough to show what I can do."

Mustelier is being considered an option at the hot corner to begin the season as New York looks to use regular third baseman Kevin Youklilis at first in Mark Teixeira's absence.

Ronnier Mustelier out with leg contusions

(3/15/2013) Yankees rookie Ronnier Mustelier, who has earned ample playing time at third base this spring, departed Friday's Grapefruit League game with multiple leg contusions and will undergo additional tests, The Wall Street Journal reported. Mustelier, an outfielder in the minors, suffered the injury after running full speed into a railing along the third-base line during the fourth inning. He stayed flat on his back for more than a minute before being helped off the field by manager Joe Girardi and the team trainer. Mustelier, 28, has impressed the Yankees with his defensive versatility and is also hitting .292 during the spring.

Mustelier receiving extended look

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(3/10/2013) Making his second appearance in the big-league camp during his brief career, Yankees prospect Ronnier Mustelier opened the spring working in the outfield as the team believed he would assume that spot if he rose to the majors. And then Mark Teixeira suffered a wrist injury, forcing New York to alter its plans. Now, Mustelier is receiving playing time at third base as the team looks for capable options at the hot corner to possibly slide Kevin Youkilis to first base. "We’re going to look at him," manager Joe Girardi told The Journal News. "I think you’ll see a lot of players here (in big-league camp) for a long time."
