(7/31/2014) The Pirates claimed infielder Angel Sanchez off waivers from the White Sox, USA Today reports Thursday. Sanchez was hitting just .226/.285/.282 in 139 at-bats in the minors this season.

(7/2/2014) The White Sox have claimed right-hander Angel Sanchez off waivers from Tampa Bay and assigned him to Class A Winston-Salem.

The 24-year-old Sanchez, who was designated for assignment by the Rays on Sunday, struggled in that organization at the Double-A level this season.

(6/30/2014) Rays pitcher Angel Sanchez was designated for assignment Monday to clear a roster spot for pitcher Cory Burns, who was claimed off waivers from the Rangers. Sanchez is 0-1 with a 8.00 ERA in two relief appearances for Double-A Montgomery.

Sanchez was sent down to the minors in March. He's posted a 6.88 ERA over 52 1/3 innings in Double-A.

(3/12/2014) The Marlins took 12 players off their spring roster Wednesday, per The Miami Herald. Among the cuts were top pitching prospects Justin Nicolino  and Anthony DeSclafani, who were reassigned to minor-league camp.

Jesus SanchezColby Suggs and Avery Romero were also reassigned to minor-league camp, while Michael Brady and Kyle Jensen were optioned to Triple-A New Orleans. Grant DaytonAngel SanchezJose UrenaJacob Realmuto and Brent Keys were optioned to Double-A Jacksonville.

(2/22/2014) Marlins rookie right-hander Angel Sanchez has drawn the starting nod for the spring trainining opener Wednesday against the Miami Hurricanes. The 24-year-old Sanchez has yet to pitch in a major league regular season game.

Ace Jose Fernandez will make his 2014 debut against the Cardinals two days later.


Dodgers acquire Ricky Nolasco from Marlins

(7/6/2013) The Dodgers and Marlins have completed a deal that will sent starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco to Los Angeles for pitching prospects Steven Ames, Josh Wall and Angel Sanchez, according to MLB.com.

The Dodgers are expected to absorb the remaining $5.5 million on Nolasco's deal. The right-hander went 5-8 with a 3.85 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 112 1/3 innings with the Marlins this season. The California native will become a free agent after the season.
