Zach Clark banished by Orioles

(6/13/2014) The Orioles have released right-hander Zach Clark, who has pitched in just one major league game. Clark gave up three runs in 1 2/3 innings in May 2013 against Seattle. He then set out to learn a knuckleball.

The 30-year-old Clark struggled mightily last season at various levels of the minors with a 3-15 overall record and 7.84 ERA. He gave up 75 walks in 111 1/3 innings.


Orioles sign two players to minor-league deals

(10/22/2013) Orioles pitcher Zach Clark will continue to develop his knuckleball next year, according to MASN.

Clark converted to throwing the knuckleball midseason, and it showed. Clark had a 7.84 ERA over 111 1/3 innings. Clark said he used the pitch about 50 percent of the time in 2013, but wants to increase that in 2014. Clark is currently set to be a minor-league free-agent.

(6/13/2013) The Orioles pitcher Zach Clark was placed on the minor-league disabled list with a hamstring injury Thursday.

Clark, who made his major-league debut earlier this season, is expected to travel to the team's spring complex in Sarasota, Fla. to work on converting to a knuckleball pitcher. Clark has gone 1-4 with an 8.63 ERA in six starts for Double-A Bowie since using the knuckleball.

(5/6/2013) Orioles pitcher Zach Clark, who was designated for assignment Saturday, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Double-A Bowie Monday, per MASNsports.com. Clark allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings during his only outing for Baltimore May 1.

(5/4/2013) The Orioles designated pitcher Zach Clark for assignment Saturday with Freddy Garcia being recalled to start against the Angels. 

Clark made his major-league debut while up with the Orioles. He went 1 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks with a strikeout. 

If Clark clears waivers, he'll likely head back to Triple-A Norfolk.

(4/30/2013) The Orioles called up pitcher Zach Clark from Triple-A Norfolk Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Clark has made five starts for the Tides and has gone 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 25 2/3 innings. 

Clark's first appearance for the Orioles will be his major-league debut. He's going to pitch in long relief out of the bullpen.
