Cory Rasmus tosses four scoreless innings vs. Mariners

(9/17/2014) Angels pitcher Cory Rasmus wasn't a factor in the decision Tuesday, giving up just one hit in four scoreless innings while striking out four in his team's 13-2 loss to the Mariners.

Rasmus, who has mostly pitched in relief this season, wasn't going to be given a full workload no matter the results, but he was removed after just 43 pitches after passing that mark in three of his previous four outings. The bullpen immediately blew the lead upon Rasmus' exit. He owns a 2.57 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 51:15 K:BB ratio in 49 innings. Rasmus is scheduled to face the Rangers Sunday.

(9/11/2014) Angels pitcher Cory Rasmus didn't make it through the fourth inning in a no-decision Thursday night against the Rangers. He allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out three over 3 1/3 innings of work.

Rasmus has allowed three earned runs over his last eight innings pitched. He owns a 2.80 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over 45 innings. He will make his next start Tuesday at home against Seattle.

(9/6/2014) Angels pitcher Cory Rasmus failed to make it out of the second inning Saturday night against the Twins. The right-hander only lasted 1 2/3 innings and allowed two runs on two hits and three walks with no strikeouts. Of his 36 pitches, only 18 were strikes.

Rasmus wasn't a factor into the decision. He owns a 2.81 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP over 41 2/3 innings of work this season. He'll likely make his third start of the season on Thursday at Texas.

(9/2/2014) The Angels have added six players to the September roster, accordign to the Los Angeles Times.

The team called up pitchers Cam Bedrosian, Wade LeBlanc, Vinnie Pestano and Cory Ramus today. Outfielders Brennan Boesch and Tony Campana were also promoted to the major-league club. 

The team also added John Buck, C.J. Cron, Shawn O’Malley, Luis Jimenez and Efren Navarro .

(7/29/2014) Angels pitcher Cory Rasmus gave up a walkoff home run Tuesday to take the loss in his team's 7-6, 12-inning defeat against the Orioles.

Rasmus (2-1) gave up a hit and a walk in the 11th inning but was able to keep the game tied. He then surrendered the decisive blast to the leadoff man in the bottom of the 12th. Rasmus owns a 2.28 ERA and 21:7 K:BB ratio in 23 2/3 innings.


Angels make a few roster moves Thursday

They optioned pitcher Cam Bedrosian to Double-A Arkansas, while also recalling Cory Rasmus from Triple-A Salt Lake and selecting the contract of pitcher Drew Rucinski from Double-A Arkansas. 

Also, pitcher Nick Maronde was designated for assignment.

(6/11/2014) Angels reliever Cory Rasmus received his second win in as many appearances Tuesday, as the Angels won in walkoff fashion over the Athletics Tuesday.

Rasmus pitched perfect 13th and 14th innings in the game, and Colin Cowgill got him the win with a solo home run in the 14th. Rasmus earned the win with one strikeout on 20 pitches, pushing his record to 2-0.

Rasmus has made two scoreless two-inning appearances since returning to the Angels. 


Cory Rasmus gets win in relief

(6/8/2014) Angels pitcher Cory Rasmus was thrust into action immediately following his callup Saturday, as he earned the win in relief over the White Sox.

Rasmus pitched two scoreless innings of relief, and the Angels scored six times in the bottom of the ninth to get the win. He struck out three batters while walking just one, and ended up facing the minimum six batters for the win.

Rasmus has allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings of relief over two callups this season.

Rasmus made his major-league debut last season but has yet to appear in a major-league game in 2014. He owns a 2.76 ERA and 13:10 K:BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings with Salt Lake. Jimenez went 0 for 3 in his only appearance with the Angels before being optioned.

Rasmus has never pitched in the majors, but has an 0.93 ERA and seven saves in 19 1/3 innings in Triple-A this season.
