Padres claim De La Rosa, transfer Josh Johnson to 60-day DL

(5/23/2015) The Padres have claimed left-handed pitcher Eury De La Rosa from the Dodgers and optioned him to their Triple-A affiliate. The team also transferred right-handed pitcher Josh Johnson from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day.

Johnson, who has been dealing with an elbow injury, has not pitched yet this season. He threw a 32-pitch bullpen session on May 15, the first time he threw off a mound since a simulated game on April 28.


Dodgers announce signing of Olivera, Fernandez; DFA De La Rosa

(5/19/2015) The Dodgers officially announced the signings of infielder Hector Olivera and Cuban right-hander Pablo Fernandez to a minor-league deal, per the team's official website.

Olivera, who passed a physical Tuesday, agreed to a six-year, $62.5 million contract back in March. In order to make for Olivera on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated left-hander Eury De La Rosa for assignment.

(4/30/2015) The Dodgers claimed Eury De La Rosa from the Athletics and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Los Angeles also transferred Brandon McCarthy (elbow) to 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Athletics place Ben Zobrist on disabled list, call up Max Muncy

(4/25/2015) The Athletics placed Ben Zobrist on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee injury, the team announced on Saturday. Zobrist has battled the injury for several days and tested the knee at designated hitter on Friday night. 

To replace Zobrist on the roster, the A's called up Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville. Muncy will make his Major League debut on Saturday, starting at third base and batting seventh for Oakland. 

To make room for Muncy on the 40-man roster, the A's designated pitcher Eury De La Rosa for assignment. 

Zobrist confirmed that he needs surgery on the knee and will be out four-to-six weeks. 


A's option Eury De La Rosa, Chad Smith to Triple-A Nashville

(3/15/2015) The Athletics announced on Sunday that they optioned pitchers Eury De La Rosa and Chad Smith to Triple-A affiliate Nashville. 

With the Diamondbacks a year ago, De La Rosa posted a 2.95 ERA in 25 appearances. But with the A's this spring training, De La Rosa has a 4.50 ERA with two earned runs and four hits allowed in four innings pitched. He's struck out five batters. 

Smith has a 4.50 ERA in two innings pitched for the A's this spring. He's allowed three hits and one earned run while striking out one batter. 

The Athletics also announced that they have reassigned Matt Buschmann , Bruce Maxwell , Alden Carrithers and Niuman Romero to minor-league camp. 


A's acquire De La Rosa from D-Backs, DFA pitcher Rodriguez

(12/18/2014) The Athletics announced Thursday they acquired pitcher Eury De La Rosa from the Diamondbacks for cash. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, pitcher Fernando Rodriguez was designated for assignment.

De La Rosa was 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA in 25 relief outings for Arizona in 2014, while Rodriguez was 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA in seven relief outings for Oakland.


Red Sox land Wade Miley in four-player deal with Diamondbacks

(12/12/2014) The Red Sox and Diamondbacks completed a trade Friday, with pitcher Wade Miley heading to Boston in exchange for pitchers Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa as well as infielder Raymel Flores .

The deal was one of two trades announced by the Diamondbacks between the two teams Friday. The Diamondbacks announced that pitcher Eury De La Rosa was designated for assignment in a related move.

Miley, 28, went 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA and 183:75 K:BB ratio in 201 1/3 innings in 2014. He's set to reach free agency after the 2017 season but will slide into Boston's new-look rotation for 2015.

Webster went 5-3 with a 5.03 ERA and 36:28 K:BB ratio in 59 innings over 11 starts with the Red Sox in 2014 while delivering a 3.10 ERA and 100:44 K:BB ratio in 122 innings with Triple-A Pawtucket. Webster was the No. 88 prospect in baseball before the 2014 season, according to Baseball America, and landed in the top 50 of the same list prior to the 2013 season.

De La Rosa made 18 starts and one relief appearance with the Red Sox in 2014, going 4-8 with a 4.43 ERA and 74:35 K:BB ratio in 101 2/3 innings. He also made 12 starts in Triple-A last season, posting a 3.45 ERA and 57:25 K:BB ratio in 60 innings.

Flores turned 20 years old in September and has spent three seasons in the Red Sox minor-league system. He hit .282/.344/.354 with one home run, 12 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 206 at-bats with low Class A Lowell in 2014.


Eury De La Rosa picks up win Tuesday

(7/23/2014) Diamondbacks pitcher Eury De La Rosa earned a win Tuesday, walking one and striking out two in two-thirds of an inning in his team's 5-4 victory over the Tigers.

De La Rosa (2-0) came in with one out and two runners in scoring position, and he struck out the first batter he faced. After issuing an intentional walk to load the bases with two outs, he got out of the inning with another strikeout. De La Rosa owns a 3.18 ERA and 5:3 K:BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings.

(7/19/2014) Diamondbacks reliever Eury De La Rosa picked up his first relief win Friday night at home against the Cubs. He allowed a solo home run to Anthony Rizzo in the top of the sixth inning, but in the bottom of the inning his team rallied and scored three runs to guarantee the win for De La Rosa. De La Rosa has allowed two runs over his first five innings of relief this season.

Joe Thatcher was dealt to the Angels early Saturday, opening up a roster spot for De La Rosa. He posted a 7.36 ERA over 14 2/3 innings with the club last season.

(3/9/2014) The Diamondbacks announced a slew of roster moves Sunday, which included Eury De La Rosa, Ender Inciarte, Alfredo Marte and Zeke Spruill being optioned to Triple-A Reno.

The Diamondbacks also reassigned Nick Ahmed, Jake Barrett, Mike Bolsinger, Danny Dorn, Nick Evans, Jake Lamb, Adam Russell, Matt Stites and Bobby Wilson to minor-league camp.

(8/22/2013) Diamondbacks pitcher Eury De La Rosa allowed the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.

With Joey Votto at the plate, De La Rosa threw a wild pitch, allowing Shin-Soo Choo to score. The Diamondbacks ended up losing the game 2-1. He has a 1.23 ERA.
