Braves call up Ryan Kelly from minors; option Sugar Ray Marimon

(6/28/2015) The Braves promoted pitcher Ryan Kelly from Triple-A on Sunday, the team announced. Kelly has never pitched in the majors.

To make room for Kelly, the team optioned pitcher Sugar Ray Marimon to Triple-A. Marimon went 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in 9 1/3 innings of work.


Braves place Brandon Cunniff on DL, recall Sugar Ray Marimon

(6/26/2015) The Braves placed reliever Brandon Cunniff on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to a right groin strain. To take his spot on the roster, reliever Sugar Ray Marimon was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Braves option Todd Cunningham, recall Sugar Ray Marimon

(6/15/2015) The Braves optioned outfielder Todd Cunningham to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. To take his spot on the roster, reliever Sugar Ray Marimon was recalled from Gwinnett.

Cunningham hit .239 with four doubles, four RBI, nine runs and two stolen bases in 26 games for Atlanta. 

Marimon has a 6.14 ERA in four relief appearances this season for Atlanta.


Braves promote Kohn, Cornely; demote Marimon, Cunniff

(4/24/2015) The Braves purchased the contracts of right-handed relievers Michael Kohn and John Cornely prior to Friday's contest in Philadelphia against the Phillies, MLB.com reports. Atlanta cleared roster space by demoting Brandon Cunniff and Sugar Ray Marimon down to Triple-A, per the team's official website..

Kohn, 28, began the minor-league season with a 4.32 ERA over 8 1/3 innings of relief. Cornely, 25, held a sterling 1.04 ERA over 8 2/3 innings at Triple-A Gwinnett.


Braves add Marimon to roster, designate Jaime for assignment

(4/13/2015) The Braves selected the contract of pitcher Sugar Ray Marimon Monday and designated pitcher Juan Jaime for assignment.

Marimon tossed three scoreless innings in his only appearance with Triple-A Gwinnett before the move was made. He's expected to be used in long relief in Atlanta. Marimon went 5-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 15 starts with Triple-A Omaha last season.

Jaime surrendered one earned run on no hits and four walks in 1 1/3 innings over two appearances before being removed from the active roster.


Braves re-assign three to minor-league camp

(3/23/2015) The Braves re-assigned catcher Brandon Schlehuber and pitchers Donnie Veal and Sugar Ray Marimon to minor-league camp Monday, paring the team's spring roster down to 43 players, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Veal is the key name of the group, having made 100 appearances in the majors since debut in 2009. He owns a career 4.87 ERA in 64 2/3 innings between two major-league clubs.


Braves sign Whiteside, Marimon, Greg Smith to minor-league deals

(11/7/2014) The Braves have signed catcher Eli Whiteside and pitchers Sugar Ray Marimon and Greg Smith to minor-league deals, Baseball America reports.

Whiteside owns a career .210/.265/.327 line in 514 major-league at-bats, but he's done most of his work over the last three seasons in the minors. Marimon posted a 3.19 ERA and 84:35 K:BB ratio in 115 2/3 innings across three minor-league levels in 2014. Smith, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2010, went 9-11 with a 4.40 ERA and 92:37 K:BB ratio in 157 1/3 innings with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this past season.


Royals roster moves include sending Kyle Zimmer to minors

(3/10/2014) The Royals announced several roster moves Monday, which included sending top pitching prospect Kyle Zimmer to minor-league camp. Jason AdamAaron BrooksSugar Ray MarimonJuan GraterolBrandon LairdJorge BonifacioGorkys HernandezMelky Mesa  and Paulo Orlando were also reassigned to minor-league camp.

The Royals also optioned Chris Dwyer to Triple-A Omaha, while optioning John Lamb, Cheslor Cuthbert and Lane Adams to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
