Yankees' Greg Bird goes yard twice in victory on Wednesday

(8/19/2015) Yankees rookie first baseman Greg Bird had himself a career day at the plate on Wednesday against the Twins. Bird blasted a pair of two-run home runs, the first longballs of his young career. Those four runs would be all the Yankees would need in the 4-3 victory.

Bird is now 6 for 18 with five RBI in his first five games with the Yankees.

(8/13/2015) The Yankees promoted first base prospect Greg Bird from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. The team wasted no time getting Bird into the lineup, as he started at first base and hit seventh against Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer.

The 2011 fifth-round pick posted a .277/.356/.469/.825 slash line in 83 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season. He also has 12 home runs, 23 doubles and 52 RBI.

For his career, the 22-year-old Bird has a career .282/.395/.483/.878 slash line. Bird is ranked as th Yankees' fourth-best prospect by MLB.com and Baseball America.

(8/13/2015) The Yankees are set to promote prospect Greg Bird to the major-league roster, according to the YES Network. He will back up Mark Teixeira at first base and Alex Rodriguez at DH, per the report.

Yankees re-assign Greg Bird, Kyle Roller to minor-league camp

(3/17/2015) The Yankees have re-assigned infielders Greg Bird and Kyle Roller to the team's minor league camp, the team announced Tuesday.

Bird hit .357 with three doubles, one home run and four RBI in 10 spring training games. Roller hit .235 with four hits and eight strikeouts in 17 plate appearances.
