by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7/26/2013) The Yankees and Cubs officially announced their trade Friday, with Alfonso Soriano headed to the Yankees in exchange for minor-league pitcher Corey Black.

Black, who was mentioned as a possible part of the trade when it first came up Thursday, has a 4.25 ERA in 82 2/3 innings for Class A Tampa this season. He is a former fourth-round draft choice by the Yankees, who has a 3.79 ERA in his career, with 9.2 strikeouts and 4.0 walks per nine innings in 135 1/3 innings.

Alfonso Soriano headed to the Yankees

by Jeff Tobin | CBSSports.com
(7/26/2013) The Chicago Cubs have agreed to send outfielder Alfonso Soriano to the New York Yankees, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. The deal now needs commissioner approval.

The Yankees are expected to pay an estimated $7 million to $8 million of the $25 million remaining on Soriano's contract, according to Heyman. In return, Chicago will likely receive anywhere from one to three prospects. Heyman said pitchers Corey Black and Tommy Kahnle are strong possibilities.

Soriano played for the Yankees from 1999 to 2003, hitting 98 home runs and accumulating a .284 average. This season, he has 17 home runs, 51 RBI and a slash line of .254/.287/.467.
