by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(6/18/2015) White Sox rookie pitcher Chris Beck has been placed on the disabled list with Triple-A Charlotte because of inflammation in his right elbow, per The Chicago Tribune.

Beck, who made his major-league debut back in May, has a 3.15 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 14 walks in 54 1/3 innings with Charlotte.

During his major-league debut, Beck allowed five earned runs on 10 hits in six innings. He was optioned back to Triple-A after the game.

White Sox SP Chris Beck goes six innings in MLB debut

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/28/2015) White Sox right-hander Chris Beck, who made his Major League debut on Thursday, picked up the loss in the 6-3 defeat to the Orioles. Beck was recalled from Triple-A to start the second game of a doubleheader and went six innings in his debut.

The 24-year-old allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits, while walking four and striking out three. He was visually nervous in his first time on a big-league mound, but all-in-all, it wasn't a bad performance.

"I gave up a couple knocks here and there, but other than that, if I could erase that first two-run inning there, maybe it's a different story," Beck said, per MLB.com.

He gave up two runs in the first and third innings, and one in the sixth, accounting for the damage against him.

"He extended himself. He got into some jams, got out of some jams," manager Robin Ventura said. "They scored some runs and that's part of the big league experience. He gets up here and competes and throws strikes."

Beck was optioned back to Triple-A Charlotte following Thursday's start.

"Unfortunately, today I didn't get the job done," Beck said. "But like I said, it's something to build on, something to go back to Charlotte and work on. Work on consistency and commanding the zone, and hopefully come up here and get another shot at it to give the team a better chance to win next time."

White Sox's Chris Sale given 'slim chance' to pitch Opening Day

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/1/2015) White Sox manager Robin Ventura was not optimistic pitcher Chris Sale would be ready to pitch by Opening Day, reports ESPN.com.

“He was slated to go for Opening Day and there is a slim chance that he would be able to do that," Ventura said. "I would expect it not to be that way, but being that it's his ankle, we can treat that. It's not as though it’s his elbow where we would really be cautious."

Sale is recovering from a broken foot and if he is not ready by opening day, pitching coach Don Cooper said Brad Penny, Scott Carroll, Frankie Montas or Chris Beck would be given a chance to replace Sale.

"I think all of the guys that I've mentioned have a shot at making the rotation if [Sale] is not ready to go," Cooper said. "And then we'll make some adjustments to the schedule. Maybe it's me, but it feels like we've dealt with stuff like this before. That's OK, it is what it is. It sucks and I wish it didn't happen, but there are a lot of things people wish didn't happen. This is one with Chris and we'll deal with it."
