Dodgers' Yimi Garcia serves up go-ahead HR to Carlos Gonzalez

(5/15/2015) Dodgers pitcher Yimi Garcia served up a go-ahead three-run home run to Carlos Gonzalez in the ninth, which proved to be costly in his team's 5-4 defeat to the Rockies on Thursday.

Garcia (2-1) struck two and did not issue a walk, but was charged with three runs on three hits in an inning of work, picking up the loss and a blow save. He owns a 3.38 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB ratio through 16 innings pitched this season.

(5/12/2015) Dodgers pitcher Yimi Garcia failed to convert a save when he allowed a two-run home run to Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich during Monday's 5-3 win.

Garcia entered with a one-run lead in the ninth, but he surrendered two runs on two walks and two hits. Garcia was pulled after recording two outs in the inning. It was his second blown save this season.

"He was due for one of those outings," manager Don Mattingly said after the game, per the Orange County Register.

Despite blowing the lead, the Dodgers were able to win the game on a three-run home run from Scott Van Slyke in the bottom of the ninth inning.

(5/4/2015) Dodgers reliever Yimi Garcia isn't getting many opportuntities for saves, but he's getting batters out. 

Garcia has picked up two wins and a save this season, but most of his appearances have come during key moments in the seventh and eighth innings. While he doesn't get credit in the major stat categories, his performance has been close to perfect. 

Garcia has a 0.66 ERA and hasn't given up a run since April 7.

Garcia struck out two of the three batters he faced.

Garcia has now allowed just one run in 9 2/3 innings (0.93 ERA) this season.

(4/15/2015) A franchise known for unveiling stud pitchers might be in the process of developing another one in right-hander Yimi Garcia.

Garcia has emerged as a late-game option for the Dodgers with closer Kenley Jansen sidelined. He has responded to the responsibility with a dominant stretch in which he has faced 21 batters in six innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts. Garcia boasts a 2-0 record and 1.50 ERA.

He has been particularly strong recently with eight strikeouts in his last four innings pitched.


Dodgers' David Huff gives up four runs in four innings, gets no decision

(4/15/2015) David Huff made his first career start for the Dodgers on Tuesday, giving up four runs on seven hits in four innings for a no decision to the Mariners.

Huff was called up from Triple-A on Tuesday. 

Yimi Garcia (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the Dodgers and took the win. 

Huff's next start for the Dodgers has not been announced as of Tuesday night.

(4/5/2015) The Dodgers announced their final roster moves Saturday with Paco Rodriguez, Yimi Garcia and Pedro Baez all earning spots in Los Angeles' bullpen, according to the L.A. Times.

Rodriguez did not allow a run in 10 2/3 innings pitched this spring with 13 strikeouts and zero walks. Garcia posted a 0.79 ERA with 15 strikeouts and two walks in 11 1/3 innings pitched while Baez posted a 5.40 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.


Dodgers' Mattingly on Yimi Garcia: 'He's pretty impressive'

(3/25/2015) Dodgers pitcher Yimi Garcia tossed a scoreless inning Wednesday as he continues to battle for a spot in the team's Opening Day bullpen.

"Obviously, he's pretty impressive," manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday after the outing, per MLB.com. "He's still here. As long as he's not in the [minor-league] barracks …"

Garcia has yet to allow a run in 8 1/3 innings, giving up just four hits and two walks while striking out 10. He believes he's ready to make the major-league team.

"In my mind, yes," Garcia said. "But I don't have control."

Garcia made his major-league debut in 2014 and allowed two earned runs in 10 innings while striking out nine and walking one.


Dodgers make September call-ups

(9/1/2014) The Dodgers recalled outfielder Joc Pederson, second baseman Alex Guererro, catcher Tim Federowicz and pitcher Yimi Garcia Monday with rosters expanding in September.

Pederson closed out his first season with Triple-A Albuquerque by hitting .303/.435/.582 with 33 home runs, 78 RBI and 30 stolen bases in 445 at-bats.

In addition, the team activated pitcher Chris Perez from the disabled list. Perez has been out since Aug. 3 while nursing an ankle injury.

(11/20/2013) The Dodgers added pitchers Pedro Baez, Yimi Garcia and Jarret Martin to the 40-man roster Wednesday.

Baez went 3-3 with a 3.88 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 55:23 K:BB ratio over 58 innings between high Class A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Chattanooga in his first season since being converted from an infielder to a pitcher. Garcia went 4-6 with a 2.54 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 85:14 K:BB ratio in 60 1/3 innings with Double-A Chattanooga. Martin went 6-7 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 106:62 K:BB ratio in 96 1/3 innings between high Class A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Chattanooga.
