Clemens had a 5.84 ERA in 24 2/3 innings with the Astros this season, while Martinez had a 5.14 ERA in 7 innings.

(8/20/2013) The Astros selected the contract of David Martinez from Triple-A Oklahoma City Tuesday. Martinez went 14-3 with a 2.20 ERA in 28 appearances (20 starts) between Double-A and Triple-A.

"I am so very happy for him," Omar Lopez, who managed Martinez for two seasons while he was in the Venezuelan Summer League and currently manages the Astros' Class A Quad Cities club, said in a press release. "He has battled very hard his entire career and is a super kid, a model citizen. I’m very proud of him."
