Matt Moore, four others recalled by Rays on Tuesday

(9/1/2015) The Rays have recalled left-hander Matt Moore and four others from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday. Moore, who missed the first three months of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, made six starts for the Rays earlier this season.

Moore struggled when he came off of the DL in early July. In the six starts, he allowed a total of 26 earned runs in 26 2/3 innings, leading to an 8.78 ERA. He has fared much better in five starts with Durham, going 2-1 with a 3.30 ERA in 30 innings. He also posted a 43:8 K:BB ratio, which includes a 16-strikeout outing two starts ago.

In addition to Moore, the Rays also summoned Mikie Mahtook , C.J. Riefenhauser , Richie Shaffer and Kirby Yates from Triple-A.


Rays call up Everett Teaford, option down C.J. Riefenhauser

(7/4/2015) The Rays selected the contract of pitcher Everett Teaford from Triple-A Durham on Sunday. 

Teaford is 4-6 with a 5.56 ERA in 13 starts at Durham. He gave up a run in 2 1/3 innings in his previous appearance for the Rays this year. 

To make room, the Rays optioned pitcher C.J. Riefenhauser to Triple-A. He was 1-0 with a 9.95 ERA in six relief appearances with the Rays. 

The Rays also designated first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss for assignment, opening a spot on the 40-man roster. Krauss was acquired in a trade with the Angels on June 25. He was 1 for 10 with seven strikeouts in four games with the Rays. 


Rays promote C.J. Riefenhauser, Preston Guilmet

(6/30/2015) The Rays called up pitchers C.J. Riefenhauser and Preston Guilmet after Tuesday's contest, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

Riefenhauser went 1-0 with a 7.94 ERA over 5 2/3 innings earlier this season for the Rays, while Guilmet produced a 6.75 ERA over four innings.

(6/16/2015) The Rays called up pitcher Ronald Belisario from Triple-A, the team announced after Tuesday's game. To make room for Belisario, the team optioned pitcher C.J. Riefenhauser to the minor leagues.

The Rays had until Wednesday to call up Belisario after he recently opted out of his minor-league contract.

(6/11/2015) The Rays have recalled left-handed pitchers Enny Romero and C.J. Riefenhauser, the team announced following Thursday's game. 

Riefenhauser made two relief appearances for the Rays before spending more than a month on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation. He was activated at the end of May, but was sent down to Triple-A initially. 

Romero had just been optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday, and will be joining the Rays for the third time this season. He owns a 6.75 ERA over 5 1/3 innings this year.

(5/30/2015) Rays left-handed reliever C.J. Riefenhauser has been reinstated from the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Durham, per the Tampa Tribune.

Riefenhauser, who has been sidelined for seven weeks with left shoulder inflammation, pitched just twice for Tampa Bay before going down. He allowed three runs in 1 1/3 innings.

(5/25/2015) Rays pitcher C.J. Riefenhauser tossed one scoreless inning of action on Sunday for Class A Charlotte, his first appearance as a part of his rehab assignment.

Riefenhauser, who is currently on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury, walked two batters and struck out one, but did not allow a hit. Riefenhauser has made two appearances this season, allowing three runs in 1 1/3 innings of work, but has not pitched since April 23 when the injury occurred.

(5/18/2015) Rays pitcher C.J. Riefenhauser threw 21 pitches in a simulated game on Monday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Riefenhauser was placed on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation in late April and has been sidelined longer than he initially expected, as he said after the move that he didn't see his absence lasting more than 15 days. He's made just two appearances with the Rays, giving up three earned runs in 1 1/3 innings.

(4/23/2015) The Rays have placed left-handed reliever C.J. Riefenhauser on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation and promoted outfielder Mikie Mahtook from Triple-A Durham, the Tampa Tribune reports.

"I kind of had a little bit of soreness yesterday," Riefenhauser said, per MLB.com. "So they wanted to be cautious. They didn't want me to fall behind, then it might take longer than, what is the DL, 15 days? I don't see it going any farther than that. So, just see how it goes."

The moves complete a whirlwind week for both players. Riefenhauser was recalled from Durham and Mahtook demoted to the same team Friday.

Casali was unable to beat out Bobby Wilson for the team's backup-catcher role, while Riefenhauser failed to win a spot in the bullpen. The Rays have also reassigned infielder Jake Elmore and third baseman Juan Francisco to Durham.

(9/14/2014) The Tampa Tribune reports that the Rays will recall shortstop Nick Franklin, starting pitcher Alex Colome and reliever C.J. Riefenhauser from Triple-A Durham on Monday.

Franklin has hit .210 with two home runs since coming over to the Rays' organization in a July 31 deadline deal. Colome posted a 7-6 record and 3.77 ERA in 15 starts, and Riefenhauser went 3-3 with a 1.40 ERA for Durham.

Riefenhauser and Kirby Yates to the 40-man roster Wednesday, while also signing catcher Mayo Acosta and pitchers Mike Colla, Mark Lowe, Victor Mateo, Eduardo Quinonez, Sam Runion and Albert Suarez to minor-league contracts.

Belnome hit .300/.408/.446 with eight home runs and 67 RBI in 444 at-bats with Triple-A Durham. Hahn went 2-1 with a 2.15 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 63:18 K:BB ratio in 67 innings over 19 starts with high Class A Charlotte.

Riefenhauser went 6-1 with a 1.22 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 70:19 K:BB ratio in 73 2/3 innings between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham. Yates went 3-2 with a 1.90 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 93:23 K:BB ratio in 61 2/3 innings with Triple-A Durham.
